Just fit a 700mm inner barrel in a WE M14
Hi guys, just to show you that I fit an AEG inner barrel in the WE M14. It does not fit without modifications of the hop up chamber. I had to sand the inside of the chamber to remove the 2 notchs on each side that are holding the M14 inner barrel. It's still hold very firm. I'm not statisfied of the performance, I'm roughly at 400fps woth .20g but I damaged the first part of the inner barrel while trying an other fitting method that didn't work. The smalest silencer I found to hide it was the 335mm action silencer.

awesome job =)
What was your performance (range and FPS) before hand?

Well I broke a few internal parts and I put back original parts that I received yesterday. I didn't to the same performance tuning inside as triming the noozle bulb and removing 2 legs in the valve inside the noozle so I can't really compare to before. But I also have a 705mm 6.02 DeepFire inner barrel and so I'll compare with it and with my stock Ra-Tech M14 6.03 inner barrel so I'll see where the perfomance difference is. I didn't test range yet, just chrono a few shots.

Might also want to use some of the foam padding inside the suppresor to dampen the vibrations of your barrel since you aren't using it for sound reduction. I'd put it towards the tip end of the suppressor and the mid section.. and maybe some in the barrel chamber. Might give you slightly more consistent shots.
Also can you post a picture of the stuff you modifed on the inside? Mainly the noozle and valve area. I'm pretty interested in this mod.

Here you go, high flow valve in the magazine, high flow valve in the noozle, shortening of the noozle bulb so that the valve can't stay open longer and I also put half a bb in the hammer spring tube in the trigger assembly (not shown)

where did you got that 700mm inner barrel? I'm planning to put it on my M4 and convert it to a M110 SASS.

It's a Precisionairsoft custom 700mm 6.01 inner barrel. It's a very high quality. I did mess it up but it's my bad. Look on google with the name.

With an inner barrel that long you should be shooting WAY hotter than 400fps.
I'm thinking you probably have a big airleak in the hopup that you modified? |

I think that the airleak must be at the beginning of the inner barrel because as I said at first I tried to force it into part #54, wich was a big mistake as always using strenght to make something work make it brake. After, the first 2 inchs of the inner barrel were a bit disformed and the bbs couldn't pass so I used a very soft sand paper and opened it. But I knew that the intergity of the inner barrel was gown so I'm the one to blamed. I was at 530fps with the Ra-tech 540mm 6.03 so I'm not looking any further for an answer
Edit I put a bit of teflon tape around the hop up rubber and went up instantly to 485fps. Still doing more tuning. Last edited by Sim123456; December 22nd, 2010 at 11:58.. |
