TM 5-7 - HFC-134a gas...where to procure?
After much reading, searching and being totally Googled-out I reluctantly resort to the path of least resistance. Where in the hell am I supposed to get a reliable supply of Tetrafluoroethane-based "duster-gas" for my brand spanking new TM-FN Five-Seven?
I have done the tour of the local electronic supply shops and they all have the alternate Difluoroethane propellant which I have been advised against. I know where to get the adapter but before that I need to know if it will only be a useless piece of plastic. Your help is appreciated. |

Eeek! Not what the other threads seem to say!
I've read too much grief about the hardware ramifications of running with "other-than-recommended" propellant and I kinda want to treat it with kid gloves for a bit...at least until I get bored of it and don't care so much...I read through the thread with you guys and the outer barrel deformation, pin shear, etc., etc. worries me, so I want to try the HFC-134a to play it safe for now...just don't know where to get it.
But I don't want to turn this into a rehash of that other thread, just a source for the gas I wan to use. Thanks though! |

I get my duster (by the case) from the local Torbram Electric Supply.
Have you tried them? TES has locations all over. If they don't have it in stock, TES should be able to get it within a week. Just be clear to say you want Tetrafluoroethane-based "duster-gas" and will accept no substitute.

^I suppose it's more expensive than $4 propane bottles?

A case ran me ~$120 in spring 2009.
Which is much more than the $2.50 per I paid for disposable LP at the local Home Hardware this past summer. I use it mostly for the not so LP friendly Marushin airsoft guns. |
