Seeking assistance with G&P CQB-R front end
So as my name implies, I don't really know the armalites all too well. I'm getting them, but I need some help with this front end;
Okay, basically, I just need to know how to disassemble it. I unscrewed the big knobby part at the rear of the unit, but now I'm lost. Can someone help me out? I know that is a pretty common part, so there should be plenty of fine folks who'd be willing to share some knowledge with a hapless guy like me...right?

I'd imagine you need to remove the front sight first....though not having used that front end can't say for sure....

If that's the front end that's already installed...start from the muzzle, remove items, until you get to the receiver. (flash hider, front sight, RAS ring, handguard, finally the barrel will come off)
The flash hider is clockwise I think (i.e. unscrew counter clockwise)...but it may be reversed. Look for set screws that pin pieces in place....loosen them off so you don't damage the threads. You'll need to knock out any cross pins (i.e. front sight)....you might need to remove the sling loop to get at a set screw for the front sight. The RAS ring might be really tight...you might need a large soft jaw wrench or a strap wrench...basically anything that will grab (without scratching it up) so you can unscrew it (unscrew counter clock wise). The RAS will slide right off down the barrel. There'll be one more nut holding the barrel to the receiver...you might find this hard to get off...but with a good wrench you should be able to (CCW to undo again). Basically undo whatever you can. |
