Sorry tactical legend, the beta is indeed a made up gun. The AK74u itself isn't apparently really well liked either, can't hit a barn door with the thing. Russian troops when they can would take a AK74 folding stock. I am afraid its games like Modern Warfare and films like Goldeneye that have popularised it!

2nd Chechen war Impression

Took my Winter loadout for a spin this weekend past, and it was a blast using it. Nice and toasty for the grim weather we are having just now.

Was going for a Chechen War impression, towards the end of the last century date wise. Got slated for the use of the 6Sh-92 on another forum (too early for a 2nd war impression apparently), but it is a nice vest.

First, just wanted to say that looking through this thread has been a joy; almost all of the pictures in here are fantastic Can't think of a better place for my first post on this site.

Anyways, i'm wondering what kind of Camo patterns you all recomend for a stereotypical Soviet-Era russian. I'm looking for something easily identifiable as Russian, because (as I'm not even of age for airsoft matches) It'll be used as a movie costume.

I was thinking Black Vest, Black/Dark shadow pattern camo with a Red Beret is pretty damn generic russian, but I wanted to here your thoughts

Hoping to buy off redsoldier.com, if it makes any difference.

Cheers

Glad you have chosen Russian for your airsoft impression, always nice to have another defender of the motherland amongst all the US loadouts! To be honest bud you will be hard pressed to get a Soviet era camo for cheap, they are quite rare compared to the newer camo schemes like Flora.

Your best bet for a beret is to have blue (VDV, Russian Paratroopers) green (KGB Border Guards) or Black (Soviet Marines/Naval Infantry) red berets could be Soviet interior ministry troops but were really only about till the end of the regime.

You could use the old KLMK camo, which are available as over suits or BDU's in their own right. they were used in Soviet times (mostly by the VDV or the KGB Border guards) and the pattern is still used today. It comes in a variety of shades.

Thanks for the response

As accurate as it is...the KLMK pattern looks pretty bad in my oppinion haha. I think for my purposes, i'd be best getting a spetsnaz type uniform. They've probably been pretty consistent from 90's USSR to Russian Federation, and seem to be Tactical vest, and Green Forest camo + berets/helmets.

Attached is a setup I put together. Would that pass as a decent Russian Special Forces soldier, to an average person? I'm not striving for perfect accuracy here; Not too many of my friends are experts, and wont notice little things. I just want it as best I can.

Cheers

Splav is commercial stuff, Russia's military nor any 'Spetsnaz (OMG SO COOL!)' wear that Nato patterned crap you have in your basket.

You'd best be off looking at photos, reading books or watching video's of Russia's army in action before you go buy some commercial crap a crime boss in Ukraine is selling online.

Fair enough bud, just bare in mind that you have nothing Soviet era at all there, you would be best to stick to modern federation gear.

And Spetz don't really have a unifrom per se, they tend to remain in the shadows and like to dress in the gear of nearby regiments where they are posted.

Maybe the MVD spetz might be the best for you, the Interior Ministry dudes.

Alright, no need to get angry. This is for a movie. Not for airsoft games. I'm not going for real-world accuracy, i'm going for stereotypical looks. Just because Russian Special Forces don't wear that "commercial stuff" or "Nato Crap" doesn't mean anyone watching the film is really going to care. I used the spetsnaz as an example and a general term, because i've only ever seen regular infantry in OD suits, never any camo (they were all old photos)

And i'm pretty sure that site is in Texas, not the Ukraine.

As you probably know, films have budgets. I don't intend to go over it by ordering very expensive genuine russian uniforms.

Anyways, Thanks for your help guys, and once again, great job on all of your loadouts posted here
