where do people here get the saber radios? ebay? and how do you program the frequencies?

You can find sabers on Ebay from time to time. They're a good radio but have a lot of drawbacks these days. They're programmed by a computer interface which means you need the cable and software to do it. You can also clone them from one radio to another. And technically, programming FRS/GMRS frequencies in them is illegal.
You might want to try the saber's replacement radios like the CT250 or something similar.
