Hey sergeant major. A pair of model 2000 para boots will set you back around $84 CDN.

Ah, beat to the punch!

Also while editing, to answer your query on breaking em in, they break in fairly quickly, and the ankle support on them is pretty much comfortable the moment you put them on.

Dont go past the Altama Exospeeds......Buck, Thunder Cactus and hondatech have it right. They are truely awesome boots and your feet will thank you. I bought both the desert version and the waterproof version.

Keep an eye on USCav, they have some really good deals on occasions. I managed to get my Desert Exospeeds delivered to my door for around $100.

MKIIIs kinda suck. If you get them resoled with a Vibram sole they are better... but theres better boots out there.

Yeah, I hate 'em too. They're durable, but they feel like bricks on your feet. Decent ankle support though. I hear the newer Gortex Combats are much more comfy.

Not sure if its been mentioned but have you looked at a sport boot/footwear in the gendre of hiking by brands just like Merrell, or Northern Face? i know they dont have the to a tea military look but they are becoming more popular with the SF crowd and having used some myself i can vouch for ankle support aswell as somthing youll get your monies worth out of. Also, since youd probably prefer a boot over shoe now is the season to cash in, summer footwear has moved in meaning boots are drastically cutdown. Im off to pick up a pair of Radius Mids, very comfortable, tons of support and the price is fantastic ($109) with another $10 off.

I have 5.11 ATAC 8" side-zips and they're bad ass boots, $115 to my door. I can take them off faster then most of my shoes

Don't get the MKIII's, you're just gonna have to shell out for Vibrams. MKIIIs are junk, unless you like paper work or shin splints.

In addition to some of the real brands mentioned, I've heard good things about the Bates M9s and Converse Desert Boot if your looking for a desert colour. Check out army.ca if you want some real feedback from boots, but in the end it's what's comfortable to the individual.
