So a gun came in today...

Yes, it has a battery in the crane stock AND one in the PEQ box, the guy wired them in parallel, but claims he only uses one at a time and did it so he wouldn't have to change his battery during a game.

The wires were not soldered properly, there was a dab of solder applied but the wires were not attached. They were looped around each other and taped over, not even separately, TAPED TOGETHER. I was not impressed, and I told the customer that he shouldn't try this kind of stuff if he doesn't know what he's doing, and gave him some tips on soldering, like actually using flux...

If you look closely, the wires at the rear are the wrong colour. I thought they were installed with reversed polarity, but it turns out the guy just put them in the wrong way and didn't know how to get them out.

It was a real pain in the ass to stuff four wires into the handguard and resolder all of them... He insisted on his two battery setup so I soldered and heat shrinked it properly, no more fire hazard...

Interesting enough, he went through ALL THAT FUCKING TROUBLE TO WIRE IT but he couldn't change his own spring.

I hate white lithium grease. I opened up my CA G36 and found the last owner just plastered every imaginable surface with the stuff. It's all caked on to every surface, inside every nook and cranny. I finally gave up trying to wipe the stuff off the gearbox shell and decided just to take my polishing wheel and dremal (low speed of course) and just polish the gearbox up.

The result is a nice mirror finish which is slick and smooth for the gears.

More barrel fun.

"Gun wouldn't feed"

I had to hammer the jammed BBs out, the cleaning rod did nothing.

Retaining slots don't match up with your CYMA M14 hopup unit? No problem! I'll just mill (read: badly grind with a dremel) a new slot and secure it with contact cement.

Precision High Speed Material Removal is a key skill with ChinaSoft Teching
Also a another good skill is Percussive Press Fitting.

These 2 parts don't fit and should? BBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. BANG BANG BANG Now they do, permanently.

Pretty much. Not the only example of work I've had come across my workbench from this particular 'gundoc'. I'll have to find images of his splices.

building a new mp5... spent 3 hours building a spare vfc gearbox with a spectre fet... perfectly shimmed 16:1 gears... put it into the ics mp5 lower... perfectly shimmed... sounded so good, very efficient power draw.

Went to mate the lower into the upper... and the gearbox wouldn't clear the parts on the upper and got stuck.

how stuck?

the vfc gearbox is apparently .5mm wider on the bottom and almost 1mm TALLER on the front part than the stock ics gearbox. Filing wasn't an option with that much material.

Stripped it all apart and had to do it all over in the original gearbox.

You just reminded me a series of my nightmare with a V2 gearbox...
