Damn, so many wasted hours crawling ahead of the team and radioing intel about a base we were gonna hit or an objective we were to take. Fuck, O could have just spent my time back at the staging area doing nothing. Thanks for that, I wasn`t aware.

I've literally phoned in intel before lol
Snipers are ALL ABOUT recon and intel, that's pretty well their primary function lol
Marksmen go around shooting people, I'm a marksman with my BA rifle. I go sneak around stealthily and shoot people. That's pretty well all I do. I generally don't even carry a radio with me when I have my BA rifle, but I don't usually take it to ops either.

We had a pair of EXCELLENT snipers in Winnipeg, but they since stopped playing. They'd have their own comms channel on top of platoon comms. They'd sneak up and do recon on targets, set up traps for the enemy, distract them for our assault force, and very effectively relay information and take out squads.

So not only were they excellent at working together to kill people, but they also helped OTHER PEOPLE in accomplishing objectives.

I agree with you guys...

I was meerly stating a fact... a lot of the people who define themselves has snipers are nothing more than lone wolf marksman that dont bother with trivial things like tactics and game objectives.

Point to case most game have to "force" the sniper 2 men team concept on people ((a staple to intel gathering capability)) I would be curious to see how much time is spent during airsoft sniper course on actual grid positionning, ennemy force capability assessment, geographical mouvement extrapolation and efficient "real time" intel and sitrep transmissions.

These guys will spend all day by themselves playing in marging of the game... one comment from the secret service was that any man working alone and willing to get captures or shot get can get to anyone... there is nothing that can efficently stop i'm, eventually... he will get a window...

Compare this to static indoors players who camp a crack in a wall and think they ares great players because they got 8 peoples in that match AND didnt get shot one!!!

So my comment stands... many lone wolves... few snipers... some people would profit greatly from using the SDM fonction as teething ground before they are set free to act as actuel sniper teams

Cheers

I had the stage of being a marksman that thought he was a sniper... after several attempts with different BA rifles ... I've since just stuck with marksman, and stray into the scouting portion whenever I can.

as for the point of this post I have a rather fond hate for the whole "oh wow man nice sniper.." or "Imma buy me a sniper with my birthday money" ... I beleive it was Stalker to said that snipers are expensive... the bastards eat all your food and drink all your beer

If we are going to be pedantic about slang, a sniper rifle is technically any rifle that a sniper uses.
