I wrote to a MP in my area and ask him to get to representant from airsoft canada (staff people as they are generaly older in experience of airsoft) and ask them what is the sport exactly what law is there for us and what should be done to ensure the sport is in good hands and not some damn kids shooting to prank people out because he is a stupidly unsupervised kid (stupidly apply to the parent who allowed him to shoot other people with his Canadian Tire airsoft)

So I guess I'm the only one to try something because if no one does it well nobody gonna do it ... we can talk for all day long about that but we need to react enough of those day of trying to hide our sport because we though it would be bad for us we need to make a good statement taht we are a big community of responsible player out here and we are looking after ourself pretty good (as they are no crime with airsoft itself other than those little kid)

We need solution and act on them that is what we need now. I don't care that I don't have the money to hire laywer I'll fight for our sport as long as I can do it for our community and I'm sure that there is other people thinking the same thing

It has very little to do with law and a lot do do with policy.

I would also say avoid putting yourself out as the only person who is "doing anything". That always ends badly for the individual who has decided to save airsoft.

And as has been said before; you can get anything you want in Canada already with either a phone call or email to the right person. I can understand the frustration of seeing $99 guns you can't access that are just South of the border but the reality is that if the policy was suddenly re-interpreted to allow access to those American stores there would be a mass influx of gear to under aged and irresponsible individuals. That would do massive damage to the image of airsoft and at the noose would tighten and it would be the end.

IMO the government should create a type of license specifically for airsoft. This way, people with it can legally import and then the government would also make revenue through the permit/license and through taxing the imported guns.

Although, I can still see a couple problems with this. People could end up try to smuggle real guns in a large shipment of airsoft guns and the authorities really couldn't tell the difference unless they happen to pick that one up for inspection.

Still, I think that this would be a start and that the airsofting community would actually grow larger. Even with the added cost of the permit.

E.g.
Permit: $200
Gun: $100
Shipping: $50 (I really don't know how much shipping costs)

Then the current situation:
Gun: $400 through a legal route
THEN: if you want to downgrade it from the freakin 400+fps, you have to buy more parts and those could cost a lot...
AND: you have to then deal with problems created by upgrading the gun and you don't even know if they used high or low quality items. If they used low quality junk, then replacing or upgrading will cost even more...

I don't understand why the government won't just create a firearms license for airsoft. Everybody wins that way!

if that mean I can go to the states wich is about an hour from my place to buy an airsoft at 25% of the price then fuck yeah I'd pay for that license !

Would also refrain kidiots from owning them since it would be restricted to licensed people just like guns.

Licensing people is a good thing tho, creating a registry for the guns would be a waste.. just own a plastified card and you are good to go!

A law that would not be as strict as the firearm law (god no..) but at least a ease the buying.

Same scale in terms of spread for airsoft. But less people paying that 100 bucks to cover costs

Do some research before you offer an opinion p. something like that

We're talking millions to roll out something like that Canada wide

Driving is not a right, it's a privilege.
Airsofting is not a right, it's a privilege.

Licensing the right to own an airsoft gun would not cost that much.

Just the logistics involved with getting the government to print out a brochure detailing the new law (not including the thousands and thousands of man hours to ratify and set up the new law) would cost more than they would recover in 20 years of airsoft permit revenue.
