a newbie is someone that is new to something and is willing learn and help themselves, and listens to constructive criticism and advice from those more experienced than them.

A noob is someone that has no clue about helping themselves, wants everything spoonfed to them and usually has all the answers they want already and doesnt listen to the advice of more experienced players.

Well as I'm Australian, I haven't add the privilege of playing airsoft (yet), how ever I have grown accustomed to visit team/locale forums, and finding pictures of Milsim'ers bragging about their "Impressions" or "load outs", in which they try to look like SAS, JTF2, SASR, 4RAR, SFOD-D, Para, CDO, RM, GIGN etc... to look through, oh shit they've done a nice job, then to see, para qual badges, unit patches, sand(or tan) berets, red berets, green berets, with the cap badges.

If you've never served a day of your life in the military, don't wear them! We (i use that term collectively) have worked hard to gain those qualifications, not for some gear-whore, plastic-fantastic, gun-totting noob to be running around and airsoft field, proclaiming, "oh but we're like the Airsoft Delta Force or something ... I don't have a problem with teams "replicating" SF/Inf/other unit's structure/missions/everything else, but keep qual badges, beret's etc off the field, if you haven't earnt them.

Big +1. It's all good as long as you don't use the real capbadges and/or unit patches.

Personally I don't care, I've never served, I don't own alot of gear, basically just a couple sets of bdu's and a chest rig. But the people that do the impressions, it's just "their thing" I've never heard any of the impression guys claim to be something that they weren't.

If they want to play dressup then let them.

With that logic, I shouldn't wear my CADPAT because I've never served in the CF so I'm a big wannabe noob too right? then we are all a bunch wannabe's playing soldier

UH... I take it you didn't read the whole post? I didn't say anything about cadpat, marpat, acu, bdu's etc... I was talking about qualification patches, regiment specific beret's and cap badges ...

I have seen, and I'm sure there's others out there, that have seen milsimer's walking about, brandishing their latest aquired accoutrement... There's nothing wrong with wearing BDU's, just qualification patches, unit patches, berets and their respective cap badges...

I love his kit turn out, but the beret, the symbol of SAS (or SASR) Trooper, a coveted item by those who are
serving in the Regiment. I'm sure if I was a SASR trooper, and saw this bloke, i'd have his guts for garters ...

My pet peeve is totally new players saying there going to play airsoft professionally. I work at surplus ig in montreal, and I've had about 3 kids come in, not old enough yet to even be buying airsoft, say there gonna join a pro team in canada. I told them theres no such thing, and that its more or less, single players, friends, and teams that are set up that go out and game, and have a good time, and they insist that there are pro-teams out there.
