Also I do not think you can transfer these parts into a 5.1 Slide as there are different subtleties to the blowback area and the recoil spring is different as well. Also if you rack back the slide of the extreme and the normal 4.3 you'll notice there is a difference right away. |

You can totally do it, earlier in the thread I explained the minor differences.
If you want Xtreme full auto in a 5.1 capa, and you have both at hand then the swap is simple. All you have to do is switch blowback chambers, and add the buffer to the 5.1 recoil rod. Voila! you should have full auto goodness. |

Ah I missed that part
Although has it cycled perfectly? |

Daiviet,
I read somewhere that the Xtreme is short stroked, hence the slide stop being disabled. Has a custom recoil system to keep the slide rear travel to the minimum |

Lets put this out there for everyone. The ONLY differences with the new Xtreme hi-capa and the older 4.3 and 5.1. -Xtreme has a different blowback unit which CAN be placed into other models. -Xtreme uses a buffer on the recoil rod to prevent slide overtravel which CAN be placed into other models. -Xtreme has a screw set behind the slide catch, also preventing it to move up. Not transferrable, however isn't required. Without the slide moving back all the way, the slide catch can't move up to lock it back anyways. From my test at home, the buffer is REQUIRED in order to have it running at full auto. However that is based on my current blowback unit being modified slightly different from the actual one. I will have to re-cut a portion of the area I filled in and re-test if its required. Last edited by Daiviet; February 18th, 2009 at 15:29.. |

Yep good luck.
The 5.1 will be noticeably slower than the 4.3 though. Smaller slide equals less weight, but you know this already. |

daiviat,
so if i remove that "screw" and the recoil buffer, the gun will have a slower rate of fire, but the slide will lock back after all ammo has been shot off?? am i correct? |

Yes, assuming you only have ONE round in the chamber and none left in the mag. The problem is, the full auto ability basically lets the hammer follow the slide movement at all times. This causes it to get hooked on the lip between the piston and the blowback chamber. This is part of the reason why the shock buffer was installed to short-stroke the unit - to prevent the slide from travelling back far enough to get hooked on the hammer. So unless you have ONE shot total, you won't have a properly firing gun.

Either you're gonna have to get your hands on one to test it out, or you can try to ask around politely to see if anyone is willing to test it on their own. Hell, I'll ask. If anyone owns an Xtreme, could they do me a favour? Remove the buffer and remove the little screw, and tell me if the slide locks back or if the gun jams up on firing. Thanks. EDIT: BLARGH! posted before I did brian. |

It will jam up, in the bit of testing I did with one.

I'm sure with some innovation and persistence with a Dremel tool and/or a file, there may be a way to solve the hanging issue...

Just dremel a notch in the slide thats slightly further back than the existing one. Not sure what what else it'll do to the gun though. |

Let me clarify some of these EXTREME issues...
I own a couple of these and have modified one all I can. The Extreme can be made to lock-back once the last round is fired only if you: - remove the screw under the slide catch. - remove the stock short stroke recoil spring set-up and install an upgraded 4.3 recoil spring along with an Airsoft Surgeon shock buffer. I have not experienced any jams but I have also installed the PGC Extreme slide and tuned it to my liking. The only drawback I have with having the slide lock back is that it reduces the ROF. I have since gone back to the short stroked set-up on my modified Extreme...I love the faster ROF !!!
