I should get two samples on my way by tonight and have them some time within the next two weeks (depending on the customs...). I will do a complete review and hopefully Yannos too, since he has a real COMTAC and he's in my area (and he's a cool guy^^).
With that being done we should be able to know if going forward with the group order is worthwhile. Also I noticed the price on RSOV has gone up by 100 fucking bucks, so whatever happens it should definitely be a great deal.

Manual says that you can select the stepping (5/6.25/10/12.5/25/50khz). The manufacturer also offers a VHF, UHF and FMS variants of the radio. I probably have an account to lurk the pics But I don't even remember, so I don't think it's me.

If this radio has the U229U receptacle (it looks like it does) then I have a Peltor dual comm PTT with with U229U barrel plugs that I can part with. I had Peltor make me a dual Kenwood plug PTT (both PTT's are single downead to PTT, then dual down to radios) to use with the radios I have now.
I remember always wanting a smaller, lighter radio when I was in the US Air Force, so seems funny that people would want the bigger, heavier one. But I do understand that people want to make an accurate impression. Now if the replica would duplicate the actual 148 functions, and do AM/FM, HF up to UHF, I'd get one just for that, since a real one is around $7k USD. (http://www.bhigear.com/clear-mbitr-urban.aspx) This is the U229 used on the Peltor Comtac II: http://www.prc68.com/I/U229PO.shtml Versus the Dragon Red's connector: In case anyone wants one, here is a U94 PTT for NATO to U229 single PTT. Note that these do NOT work with the replica headsets that have the NATO style jack. http://store.acousticom.com/cx-2556u Last edited by EagleDriver; November 11th, 2010 at 11:45.. |

Baltimore, is that you?! Let me know on this group price, I'd be willing to sell off my puxing 888 for this, I love the look of MBITR and would gladly carry the heavier radio

I can only sell the real one, not the knock-off.
As soon as Yannos can test with the Comtac headset, you will then know if you will buy it or not. By the way, it ALSO is supposed to have a two pin Kenwood jack, so you could use an existing headset if you used one on the Puxing with it. |

I am all f*cking confused.
Some website states that the Mil. Connector DOES work and other says it DOESN'T. We will know for once and for all once I get the radio. But that pisses me off as I just bought a Peltor PTT just for that.. I got a big deal .. $85 for a brand new one bu still haha.

It looks like there are two different knock-offs. I know for a fact that the Dragon Red airsoft one does NOT work with the Peltor, because we tried it at OP Irene two weeks ago. But the pics of the one in the OP show a U229 connector, which is different than the Dragon Red airsoft one, and that should work with the Peltor.
