As long as the retailers stay to the rules of selling airsoft to 18+ there is no real differnece to the two.

ASC retailers are part of the community, and I would hope that they would not do anything to jeopardize the community for a quick dollar, Cabela's is large company, whose employees care nothing for our sport etc. and are not averse to selling guns to parents of whiny little punks, so no they are not the same thing.

the issue is, cabela's doesn't uphold the 18+ rule all the time. the retailers (on ASC) only sell to members of the community so there is no issue of the parent getting the gun for their kids, and if the parent is a member of the community and does this, more than likely he will loose all respect if his/her kids get in trouble

So a large company who sells something to someone who is over 18 is wrong to do so, where a small business person who sells to someone who is over 18 is right because they are part of a on line forum. So it doesn't matter what the person who buys these items does with it after the fact that is good or bad.

The reality is that the "consensus" around the 18+ policy has never been seriously tested. When it was first implemented, the community was small enough that there wasn't a lot of room for dissent. For a time, it was even mistaken as having legal weight.

As I've said when Ken first brought up the whole clear receiver'd guns, this was only a matter of time. Learn to enjoy the ride.

Basing what a company does on hear say doesn't mean they don't up hold the rules. Every time I have purchased an airsoft item from there, I have been ID'd. It is possible for things to happen in both worlds.

If you are going to quote me, please use the whole quote. What I was respnding to had nothing to do with the Noob Tank. It was in regards to what is said about what a company does or does not do.

I asked to become an age verifier to give back to the airsoft community, to help new people into the sport like I was helped. You ask me such questions for what reason, am I not allowed to have an opinion because I an an age verifier

I don't believe I was trying to defend or oppose Cabela's in its selling of airsoft. I was trying to say that underage people are going to get their hands on equipment from any source, be it a store that doesn't check ID or Mommy and Daddy buying it for them. Also saying it is possible for any retailer to skirt the rules to make a dollar.

I just hope that all the retailers, be it outside ASC or in ASC stay to the rules of the 18+ to buy.

no what you were saying was that Cabela's and ASC retailing was the same thing, which it isn't, because of our age-verified system of which you are a part of.

do you verify kids or their parents (i hope not)? no, so there is obviously more strict controls via ASC than through retail stores like Cabela's, designed to protect our sport, what is fact is that kids are MORE likely to get airsoft through stores like this than through ASC retailers.

ASC retailers have to agree to a term where they can ONLY sell to 18+, if they break this rule they can lose their position as a retailer.

... This whole arguement is stupid. You know underage people are going to get their hands on airsoft guns.

The difference between underage kids and age-verified people on the forum is that they have to go through the age-verification process (Which is also supposed to work as a screening process and I really hope you don't just check their Id and submit it)

When I verify some one I talk to them to get an idea about what they know of the sport.. If I get the vibe that some one wants an airsoft gun for illegal purposes I simply wont verify them. (Ie If they don't know about XT, MAA, MOUT or any of the other groups in Manitoba, and if they don't really show any interest when I tell them about the different groups...)

I don't know about you.. but I would like my sport to stay out of the negative media eye.

Instead of running around screaming that the sky is falling, can anyone actually confirm that Cabelas will actually be stocking G&G items? Someone mentions one unconfirmed thing and automatically everyone jumps to the worst conclusion.

Who really cares if clear body guns get banned anyways? I know I will still be able to get my beautiful black guns . If you don't want to play with people that use them.... then don't.

i have talked to employees at cabelas, one of them is into the airsoft community, and i have heard from him and at least 3 others that they are getting them in, so yes, it is just a matter of time till they come in
