Well if you're going for range then you'll have to go for one of the larger guns. M14, SG1, Sniper riffle. Most stock SMG' and M4 variants have the same range (within reason ) I see you're looking at the Mp5 and the M16 The good thing bout the Mp5 is it's indoor capabilities. Easy to turn corners and the like. Not so easy to turn a corner with the M16, M4 variants indoors. Out doors the M16 may have a bit more range out of the box.
So as you see there is alot more to airsoft then just running around at games. Now I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but you may want to check out the SRC guns. They are cheaper ( and not without thier problems ) but you won't be spending an arm and a leg on em. "All I've ever asked of my men was to obey my word as if it were the word of god"

So guns like M16's don't have that much more range than an MP5? If they don't then your right, it would definitely be easier to carry and fight with...

Wow, I've been looking up the G3SG1. It looks incredible! Especially with an upgrade kit! I haven't been able to find it from many retailers, but there's one called "Wolf Armouries" that sells it: http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airso...d=32RTMHKG3SD1
It looks like it's pretty cheap for a gun that good. |

thats a TM sg1, retails for about 530-550 in canada. keep in mind that the price you are looking at is in pounds sterling, and that retailer is in the UK.

Heres the gist of longer barrels as I understand it:
-If you stick a longer barrel on a short barreled gun (and replace the cylinder if necessary) then you may get an fps jump, CDN_Stalker had this when he put a 10cm longer barrel on his MP5, jumped 30fps. Higher fps = longer range (noticable but not a huge increase.) For example a stock TM G3-SG1 is listed at 265fps and a TM MP5k is listed at 250fps with the same stock spring, its just that the G3-SG1 has a longer barrel (amoung other things...though my stock MP5k shoots 280fps for some reason) -Two guns shooting the same fps but one with a short barrel and one with a long barrel with have a bearly noticable difference in range but the longer barreled gun will be more accurate at any given range I'm a long rifle convert, have a full sized G36, M16, and AK-47 as well as a sniper rifle (M24) but I do keep an MP5k and P90 around for close range games (not to common where I play but invaluable in those circumstances.) Good point, I didn't notice the euro sign... There's a button somewhere on the page I found that converts to USD, it ends up being $296.49. Not including Batterys, ammo, or shipping. It's still VERY tempting though. Does anyone know if there are any border/confiscation issues when buying from the UK?

Hey Made Man, or anyone else for that matter, what kind of battery is best for the G3SG1? I don't know how long batterys last either, should I get more than one for a backup?
Thanks, Nathan-d |

you should read some reviews on the G3SG1. Made Man did ok with his, but I heave heard many horror stories about the G3.
Personally, I dont like the guns. Has a very plasticy feel IMHO. Personally, I would only get one if it came with or I was going to get the thing full metal very soon. but thats just me. Stock will take a large battery. I have used them with 9.6v 3300mah battery. More then enough to last several game days. |

You can also wait for Classic Army release of the g3sg1 or get the ca33e (5.56mm version of the g3sg1)

Hmm... Thanks. I found the link for the classic army version:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=1781 And compared to the TM version: http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airso...d=32RTMHKG3SD1 It seems like it's upgraded more. If you look at the review at the bottom of the airsoftgi page, the guy says it's much faster/accurate than the TM model. Is Classic Army a well known brand? I keep reading good things about TM, but if the Classic Army gun is better I could go with that too. |

As I said in an earlier post, I live in the U.S.. I just didn't know if there were any confiscation issues with the U.S. border. Probably not, but since the Classic Army G3-SG1 is almost completely made out of metal (Seems like that would fix the "plasticy feel"), and supposedly has a higher FPS, that might be the one to go with. And the only places I can find it are in the U.S. so no worries there.
Has anyone has "first hand" experience with CA? Are they pretty consistant with the quallity of their rifles? Last edited by Nathand; October 11th, 2006 at 19:55.. |

How about you read the entire thread through fully before replying with your default attitude?

Your gun won't get confiscated at the border since AirsoftGI is based in the US. Seriously, go read up before asking more any stupid questions. |
