You know what the right thing to do is so do it. In the end it's the righteous guy who always wins (I've been watching a lot of Y&D lately so...). I'm pretty sure you don't want to be hanging around these guys anyways is they are doing retarded things like this. Just the retardery of kids these days appals me. I think that I'm one of the last few generations of kids who actually aren't retarded.

People seem to expect shit for doing nothing these days like they're the centre of the universe. Heck, I got a C- on my Math final last semester, it wasn't a fault of the prof, I just wasn't prepared (I was holding a B average before the final), I got A's and stuff in all my other classes just that one final I wasn't prepared for and screwed up majority, I accepted it I didn't complain, I earned that mark after all. They need to learn they aren't the centre of the universe and what they do has consequences (like me and my uni studies). They know full well what they are doing and have the mental capacity to comprehend that what they are doing will have to consequences. You can tell them and try to persuade them to not do something but at the end of the day it's what they do that really matters.

At least you're active and not a bystander who stands by and lets their friends get possibly killed, good on you. I wouldn't have a problem playing with you but as for your friends.... good luck getting them verified is all I can say, Age Reps will refuse to verify them if they have a sketchy feeling about them (like they're going to do retarded things even though they may be 18+). It's happened before with one guy (underage at the time of the incident) being banned forever and wanting to be verified when he got of age (I don't know the full story but all I know is the Age Reps refused to verify him).

A lot of the people here in the uni know about airsoft. When they talk about airsoft I just smile and leave the room. When they ask me about my BDU's and shit I tell them I play "Asian Paintball" (a lot of the times omitting the Asian part) (I store my AEG at my teammates place). I haven't told them that I play airsoft (cause I don't want them to know I play with the "big boy" guns from Asia) I'm content with them wasting their money on their crapsoft from CT I just hope they don't get their hands on Cansoft. They are retarded as hell too, so being 18+ doesn't make you automatically smart. Something tells me your friends will be refused verification.

Wow..... That was a long rant. I'm pretty bored right now actually so if I went on some weird tangent then I'm sorry. To sum it up (the TLDR version);

- inform Law Enforcement, I believe there is a law against discharging air rifles (and firearms) within city limits in areas that are not zoned for such use, so jail time (or at least a fine) will likely be a reality (I say try to detach yourself from being "the snitch" you're NOT a snitch in any way, you're just trying to protect your friends, just be a "concerned citizen" in the area hearing something like "firearms or air rifles being discharged or gunfire")

EDIT: Call the Non emergency line when you do this. I'm sure the police have bigger things to worry about and it frees up the line for "real emergencies".

- tell them they are fucking retarded and try to deter them before they get in a sticky situation
- they've painted the receiver black so they probably know full well what they are doing

Contact the police for their safety, the safety of everyone around them and the reputation of our sport in Calgary. You've tried to convince them out of it and maybe it's time for them to learn a hard lesson. You can phone it in as an anonymous tip, no questions asked.

Already said multiple times but I'll add my +1 to the discussion...

First, speak with each of their parents advising them that you think this a monumentally bad idea, and that you have tried numerous times to convice your friends but that they refused to listen to you.

Let the parents know that unless something is done immediately by them to stop this, as their children are their responsibility not yours or society's at large, you will be forced to notify the local police department accordingly so that when they do respond to the inevitable multiple gun calls by panicked neighbours, nobody will end up eating hot lead. It is the least you could do to save your friends from possible...I dunno...DEATH maybe?? They might hold it against you for now, but years later if or when they finally grow up, they will appreciate your sound judgement in saving their foolish little necks.

Should these parents ignore the issue and do nothing to stop their bone-headed kid, when their son has his toy confiscated by the responding officers, is then taken to the station and questioned harshly by a very much annoyed police detective, and finally released to the parents some time later, those same parents should have Criminal Code and Firearms Act charges laid against them if possible. I say...punish the willfully reckless or negligent so their "epic failures" don't damage those of us trying very hard to prevent shooting sports of any kind from being permanently legislated out of existence.

L473ncy, you are correct: there is a city bylaw which states that BB/pellet guns may not be discharged within city limits. The versions that I have seen do not speak to zoning or 'business' use, but they may not have been complete.
This sort of stupidity in the middle of a gang war is almost guaranteed to get someone killed or injured.
To the original poster: TALK TO YOUR PARENTS. Have YOUR parents talk to THEIR parents. If that fails, THEN go to the cops and explain the situation. I'm sure that the police would rather have a heads up than go through the public relations nightmare that could ensue.

Quick history lesson: ever wonder why toy guns in the US have orange tips? Somewhere in the mid-sixties (IIRC) a five-year old living in a tough neighborhood pointed a very realistic looking toy gun at a police officer. The cop thought the gun was real, and, acting in what he thought was defense of his own life, killed the kid.

How about talking to your own parents, maybe they can help out as well. Possibly talk to your friends parents and keep the law out of it all together and prevent the next bad press for airsoft. And you'll gain maturity points with your folks.. comes in handy when you want to borrow the car

I know that there is a provision somewhere that lets trained employees at airfields discharge flares (screechers and bangers) to scare away birds after other deterrents start to fail. In extreme cases they are also allowed to discharge firearms to kill birds (this deters them away for a while usually till they get the balls to come back).

Also I always thought that paintball guns were considered "airguns" and the only reason why you're allowed to shoot them at fields were because of special zoning for such use. I could be wrong though.

Anyways, @ OP. It's really up to you. I know you'll do the right thing in the end. You came out with this dillema and asked for help in the first place which leads me to believe that you are a helluva lot mature than I was at your age. We've given you ideas on what to do so decide on what the best course of action is given the situation right now and best of luck to you. Remember you're not a snitch if you're saving peoples lives and protecting them from harm.

Well L473ncy, i agree kids around my age tend to be retarded...it's i guess the rebellious stage. There are allot of kids who stupid things out there. This isn't the first time I’ve heard about this kidda thing, you'd be surprised it happens a lot across all of Canada, but it's good that he brought it to the Airsoft Canada Community for answers.
