Oh sorry, didn't get what you were saying ... I say why because of all our importation restrictions even for those who have the proper permits to import replicas it would take a while to be able get the entire product line here unless there is a huge wave of smugglers than that'd change the situation. The answers lies in this letter from Star:
1) QRF aka Ares is named in Star's letter along with Gunner Toys and Models. 2) Ares is not even an authorized dealer of Star products. 3) Certain suppliers have been selling products (counterfeit) under the Star banner without the authority to do so.

Ok so that's not the case that's just star getting pissed because there getting cut out. Basically star gets ares to make the guns. Places like gunners contacted ares to just skip getting them from star.

You just have to love internet drama!
I contacted WGC a few days ago about their sudden re-branding of Star as Ares. My concern is over the Star AW-338 I purchased a little while ago. We all know that QRF aka Ares is the OEM for Star for this particular gas sniper rifle (and many others). You have seen Star's letter and what is alleged. My frustration with WGC is that they are now peddling these low-priced counterfeits. Was mine one of these Star counterfeits supplied to them? If so ,what kind of margin did WGC make off these rifles. They certainly didn't pass the savings onto me. I can't substantiate any of this stuff (and really I shouldn't even be putting this out there), but this is my thought process and stake in the matter. So far, their (WGC) only reply to my email was to ascertain if I am a local or overseas client. Since then, I haven't heard boo, except to see the Star 338 re-listed (along side the Ares counterfeit) with a convenient "Stop Ordering" displayed for its status.

seems to me
That this is a clear case of
"out the back door" selling The maker of the items in question did not change. The factory that was making "STAR" branded items started to sell those items branded STAR outside of the STAR supply line. I guess they figured .. why should they make them for star and let star take the retail markup when they could just sell them out the back door and make all the profit for themselves. I don't think Ares are knockoffs of STAR products I think they are the STAR product rebranded ARES and sold direct from the manufacturer. I've seen this exact gambit before ...

From their product line
It appears this same company was making the King Arms AEGs as well.
so we end up with a consolidated product line of the KA and STAR products... pretty nice lineup.

So now the landed price of a SCAR with an EGLM will be almost half of what it used to be :P and easier to get too

As of today the cost of a Star or Ares SCAR with EGLM is almost identical. But who knows down the road.
