This is a good example of how to use 5W radios completely improperly (even if they worked really well for what they were used for): YouTube - Drive By ***** |

Our team uses Icoms, notably the F21GM and the F43GT.......awesome radios with great range.
The terrain on our home grounds is quite hilly. Where FRS radios have 'black spots', these have none. http://nsiradio1.stores.yahoo.net/ichauhf.html Highly recommend this retailler. Cheers! |

I now use an Abel 378, which is a Kenwood 370 series clone. In fact after cracking one open it was all Kenwood inside. These are a great radio, very programmable, 5 watts or any portion up to it, wide/narrow band, you name it. They are programmable by computer or through the front panel, which is easier and faster. They're also very hackable, and can do tons more after a few easy modifications. BCAC had a group order on these a few years ago, and they proved themselves to be an incredible little radio setup. I highly recommend them.
