I haven't tried the Star platic mags, but I have a box of King Arms plastic AK mags, and they work great in my cheapo Double Eagle AK47. Never had a feeding problem with them. And as mentioned, they're fairly cheap, so if you're to lose one in the field, it's not a big deal.
