For me, would be pretty impossible !
She's learned that when I give her flowers, it means either:

a) it's an anniversary or bday

or

b) i got some new airsoft stuff.

Unfortunately, she's guessed (b) correctly 100% of the time. :P

Apparently. There's a few guys on systema-ptw.com that have the mod done. But, it seems really fracking time consuming, and aside from cosmetic value, it doesn't do much. Money dump if you ask me.

The vis replaces the upper receiver right?
how would you get it to accommodate the internals of the ptw, unless you have to own a nice mill...

I just converted a real steel A2 upper for my PTW. A milling machine would be handy and more precise but I did fine with a dremel and a file. There was more to do than I thought at first glance at first but it's all in accessible places. Only took about and hour and a half of patient work, filing and fitting until it all came together. It's a testament to how close the PTW is to real steel even in the internal dimensions.

5.35 kg.

That includes optic, mag & 12v battery.

Weight does not include grenade shell or BBs.

She definitely isn't a waif-ish supermodel. Weight is the same as my EBR.

As nice as the ACOG looks, it's not too practical. I want to lighten up the load by going to just my Doctersight.

However, the front triangle sight gets in the way, and that's what led me on to a chase for a new gas block setup. That search eventually led me to the VLTOR setups, and as economically impractical it was, the setup was (as Kos says) cosmetically appealing. The VIS setup would also give me an opportunity to cut down the length of the outer barrel and mount a silencer to cover the protruding inner barrel. It'll reduce overall length while getting a *little* bit of reduced muzzle sound. I'm still looking at other options, but the VIS currently has my heart.

The Daniel Defense RIS II is a close second...

I actually don't know, I got the fabric from FabricLand, considering where all that stuff is made, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Chinacam.
Do not cry...It was worth every penny...

PS: Could you notice any large performance differences between the PTW and other airsoft guns( G&P, CA). I'm not inquiring about the obvious ones ( fps, range), but rather things like battery life, jams, misfires, gearbox problems, ROF.

Thanks in advance, I would also like to compliment you on the amazing job you did with your g&p/prometheus SPR/A ( mk12 mod 0, I think). One of the best guns I've seen in a while.

I think it's fair to say that it blows away every other AEG on those fronts.

I've only had mine for a short while but I haven't experienced any problems.

ROF is insane.

I think I can answer this one:

ROF with an M150 kit (500+) fps and a 12v 1200 mah battery (like a mini battery) will yield me about 1200 rounds and give me an ROF of about 13-14 rounds/sec. (on an average summer day). With the 9.6v and M110, I can get about 3000 rounds on a 1600 mah battery and ROF is about 15 rounds/sec. With the M130 and the 9.6v, I can get about 2300 rounds and ROF is about 13-14 rounds/sec.

There is some maintenance to be done. On cylinders with the round nozzle interior, they come with a Viton o-ring for the nozzle and piston head. You will need to replace the nozzle o-ring periodically, perhaps every 5-10K rounds or when double or misfeeding occurs. The cylinder head o-ring should be replaced maybe once per year or if velocity goes down. A re-grease of the o-rings should be done every time you replace the nozzle o-ring.

On new cylinders with the hex-key nozzle interior, they come with a poly-urethane o-ring for the nozzle and a Viton o-ring for the piston head. No word yet on the life-span of the poly o-ring, but it should be quite a bit longer than Viton.

There are reports of guys getting 200K+ rounds on MAX PTWs with no mechbox failures. Gen 1-3 use zinc alloy planetary gears, and they have been known to fail after alot of use. MAX guns come with an all-hardened steel gear train.

Misfires have been reported wth mags being fussy about some BBs (never experienced that myself) or with poor mag insertion practices (a user problem). You need to get in the habit of always hitting the bolt release when you insert a mag and if you have been bouncing through the bush without firing for awhile. Also, you need to firmly insert the mag, don't baby it whatsoever.

They are quite impressive out of the box. Initial trials with my upgraded M4, shows similar accuracy. Together with what most PTW owners have been saying about the reliablity of the PTW, it's a gun worth saving up for.

Btw, thanks Brian for posting your PTW. It finally pushed me to get one also. lol

Looking forward to see what you'll do to your PTW.
