Basically a punch but with a raised part in the centre so you can centre the punch to push out the pin. This is basically what is in that hold; http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...heavy_duty.svg Just a rolled piece of metal that's slightly springy and pushes "outwards". The traditional pin you usually think of is called a dowel or taper pin.

I use a "scrap" hex driver that is too rounded to unscrew anything, but fits perfectly in the M4 pins (it fits in the hole, but rests on the edge of the pins).

I have a similar question, and don't want to start another thread. If I buy a King Arms M4 Ultra Grade, what RIS system would be best? Do I have to worry about compatibility? If I'd like to add an M203, what brand could be best? Thank you.

I believe KA makes a RIS for its m4 as well. And did u want a spring or gas m203? Short or long version?

Thanks Stahl, I don't think I've see a spring M203, so gas, long version as I might want to use it on an M16A1 for more bang for my buck.

I dont personally own a GL but i know guys who really liked their G&P M203s. I know Dboys has one for like $50 but Ive heard people say to avoid it, but then just quickly checking seems to have a lot of positive reviews as well so... And then Echo1, Classic Army and King Arms all make/made them as well. Not sure if any of them are discontinued or not, but I dont really think theres a "wrong" choice.
