I live in California, and i'm about 40 minutes from the TAG walk in store. Last time i was there, i tried on their Plate Carrier, and i must say that i was pleased. It was comfortable and definitly bomb-proof. IMO, the quality was better than Tactical Tailor and basically on par, if not a little higher, with HSGI. IMO, it would make a good basic assault rig. It's not something i'd buy to carry over 10-12 mags and more stuff. I'd get the Weesatch for that. But overall, for my general Assault purposes, the TAG Plate Carrier makes a GREAT base for an Assault rig.
I almost forgot to mention that it's extremely adjustable. I'm pretty skinny with only a 36 inch chest and it fit me and i could have adjusted it to be MUCH larger if i needed. Bottom line: For a heavier load to carrier, i reccomend the Weesatch. For a comfortable, high quality, basic modular assault kit, i'd go for the TAG Plate carrier. I plan on getting a TAG plate carrier this summer. The setup will be: 2x Double M16 Mag pouches (The kind that has 2 mag pouches on one panel that each hold 2 mags) for a total carrying capacity of 8 mags. Maybe an extra double mag pouch to carry 10 mags. 1x Large Utlility Pouch (taken from my TT MAV) 1x Small Utility Pouch to hold my Radio (taken from my TT MAV) 2x Grenade pouches 2x M203 Grenade Pouches (after i buy my M203 and shells for my soon to come GR16 R5). I hope you are happy with your purchase in the end. |
