I wonder if I could build mags (the shells) on a CNC... and whether that would be illegal... or whether it would be cost prohibitive...

a guy in hong gong has done this for the PTW. he's made molds of the RS pmags and modified them, so now he has the new molds made for injection molding. the polymer he's using is DUPONT polymer, just not the same stuff used by magpul. i have spoken with him a few months back about making the shells for GBBRs, and he said that it wouldn't be a problem. i asked if he could make them without the three ridges that run the length of the mag and he said it's no a problem either. so yea, if enough people want pmag shells, he can make them. i'll edit this post with his contact info if anyone want to talk to him. ok here's his thread in the System user group forum. http://www.systema-europe.com/forum/...152cebb3663f15

Heard from a friend that tried converting ptw p-mags to we mags and he said it didn't work.

so is he. IIRC the ptw mag internals don't fit in the pts mags.

They aren't PTS mags but shells made for PTW's which have the same dimesions as the RS ones. They unfortunately can't be modded to fit the WE inners.

like i said, the PTW Pmags still have the ridges running down the length of the mag just like the RS mags. if someone with enough money wants to, they can ask him to make the mags without the ridges.

RS PMags are the ONLY ones that work for the WE mag modification...there are no substitutes!
I have the Rampo (Systema Forums) PTW PMag and they are great, even though they are not made of the same polymer composition! The look, fit, feel and function are top notch. The only drawback is that the FDE coloring is a little off, just a shade too light!

I have not tried the Rampo Ranger plates yet, but I do know that the RS version fits the shell just fine!
