SRC G36C vs. ICS-45 C-15

OK.... you all know and are probably sick of the story lol

So, I am relatively new to airsoft, and I am interested in purchasing my first real gun. So far I am considering the SRC G36C off 007airsoft.com, and the ICS-45 C-15 off mach1airsoft.com. Here are the links:

SRC G36C: http://www.007airsoft.com/products/htm/aeg-src-g36.htm

ICS-45 C-15 : http://www.mach1airsoft.com/web/cata...m&id=184&cat=1

So I would like to hear all of your respected opinions on these factors as to which gun is better for me: Reliability/Durability, Out of the box performance, and advisable upgrades (performance with a few upgraded parts).

Ultimately, in your opinion, which gun is the better buy?
P.S. I am in the process of getting age verified... save your breath

Thanks

You're more likely to have a manufacturer's defect with ICS than SRC if you're talking out of the box performance.

The basic problem with the SRC G36C is that, if Ken's website is accurate, it is shooting at 400fps. That's well above basically all indoor games' velocity limit, so you'll have to downgrade it right out of the box if you want to play.

How would the performance compare straight up out of the box?

Correct my if I am wrong, but as I understand, most outdoor games limit is nothing above 400, so I would be good to go as I already have a TM MP5 for indoor play

A G36 has a V3 mechbox, which are sturdier (IE won't break in low temperatures or high FPS setups) like a M4/M16 V2 mechbox might.

Thanks for the help, so it sounds like I should lean towards the G36C then?

I am wanting visually to put on a silencer, fore grip, and ACOG replica, any recommendations?

I was wondering if the barrel would be a 14mm normal or inverted thread to attach the silencer? Also, the foregrip would just have to fit on a 20mm rail?

Last newb question lol, any opinions on whether or not I would need a riser for the ACOG replica (its just a red dot version with now zoom)?

Thanks for the support and help guys

Another issue I heard of regarding the SRC G36s is the hop up unit, something about irregular gap which leads to possible air leak. But between the two I'd still go for the G36C.

The need of a riser mount really depends on your face protection. It's likely that you'll need one if you wear a bulky paintball mask.

BTW, have you considered KWA G36C? Their 2009 version is pretty awesome and is full black.

Problem no longer exists with the Gen III's improved metal hop up units

I had looked at the KWA G36C, any opinions of it vs SRC G36C?

Also I found a Kwa g36c on shootsoft.ca and buyairsoft.ca, are these both the same guns as you are talking about?

ICS rifles do not have a V2 mechbox.

They have a custom split design mechbox that I have yet to find breaking. The top edge is larger than a V3 mechbox and is held in place by 4 screws that are not aligned with a corner (like a V2).

The problem is that they have sub-par gears and crappy pistons. Everything else is awesome. If you are planning to upgrade it, it is a beast.

Plus QuickSwap mechboxes let you have 1 guns for all situations, with only removing the rear pin and swap mechboxes, like a PTW.

In the end, both are great rifles. If you want to use it as is for a long time, the SRC is more constant out of the box.

If you want great rifle when upgraded, both are even.

If you want to highly customize the externals, the ICS let you use almost any M4/M16 part out there.

Thank you all for your input, you have been extremely helpful!

It appears that my initial setup will be the SRC G36C, fore grip, and ACOG style Red Dot with a KJ Beretta Elite Pistol. I will be upgrading internals down the road, and purchasing a CQB gun in the near future.

Any advice on extra mag type for this gun?

Thanks ASC for the support and advice!

Michael

I chronyed my stock SRC G36C out of the box at 370 fps max with most being a bit less using 0.2g bb's.

I'm with Kos-Mos on this one. Of the 2, I'd personally go for the ICS. Their pistons are shitty, but the split mechbox makes them very easy to replace for minimal cost (about $20 for a good piston). You'll not find a gun that's more adaptable and customizeable out of the box than an ICS, especially if it's your first gun.

Any thoughts on the KWA G36C compared to the SRC?
