Motor upgrade necessary???

i have a CA G36K, im getting ultra torque gears, and a 450fps spring, i currently have a stock CA motor, and a small battery, 9.6 1400mah,

will my CA stock motor do fine while keeping average rof (relative to a 8.4 on a stock gun), or would i NEED to upgrade to a better motor, (of course trying to keep cost lower, but if i have to upgrade i might just as well)

Na man, as long as your rockin' a 9.6 all systems are go. I say run it till it dies, it can't do any harm to your internals. You probably won't notice any difference in your ROF once your spring is in.

Kinda same deal you've got. I've been told a new battery will do wonders. 8.4v 3600mAh is what I'm getting. Right now the 1400mAh 9.6v battery that i've got can barely pull the M130 on infinite torque up gears. It's like the ITU gears actually made my battery situation worse rather then Stock ratio gears...

Your getting a 8.4 for an M130? Did i misread something or is that backwards?

Ive seen a m120 pulled by a 8.4v 1400 in an aug without issue. M130 may drain alot more power from the batt, there maybe other issues as well. Ive never run anything higher than SP110 and I use a 9.6v for that.

I too have seen a M120 pulled with a 8.4 but that battery certainly didn't last very long.

You need a larger battery to crank that heavy spring - something bigger than a 8.4v - 2000 mAh large pack will be OK. The stock motor and torque up gears will work fine with that setup. If you're feeling more adventurous, rewire the gearbox with 16 gauge wire and swap the battery plugs for Dean's plugs - you'll probably get a 10% increase in ROF.

Keep in mind that small packs (2/3 A cells) are meant to power stock guns - they just don't flow enough current to allow the motor to turn a heavy spring like an M130. The larger Sub-C cells in a large pack will flow waaaaaaay more current.

If you find yourself really strapped for battery space, you may want to consider an external battery bag, or the folding "KV-style" G36 stocks. Another alternative would be to switch to LiPo batteries - a 20C 2-cell Lipo (7.4 volt) will give you roughly the same performance as a 9.6volt small pack. However, that means you need to invest in a lipo charger, balancer, lipo sack, and other upgrades. As a third option, a Mosfet trigger with heavier (16 gauge) wiring might help you get the best performance out of your small batteries, if that's the route you choose to go.

i tried that in a gun, when i didnt want to get a new battery, it didnt work.

did you use torque gears?

I used stock gears with a stock JG motor. 1500 and 1400mAh batteries, 8.4v and 9.6v, semi auto only. It pulled the M130 with no problem whatsoever. I was really impressed, stock gears w/M130! That was lastyear. Now when I added ITU gears and a M140, the motor won't even pull a few shots, still with a M130 it only fires like 50 so times. I'm wondering if there is something going on adding more stress to the motor with the ITU gears, I know its not suposed to but that would be my only guess. Other then the motor is getting burned out. But after about a good 30 shots the fuse case is hot to the touch! So its still drawing as much power from the battery. And the motor speed slowly goes down, almost like the battery is dying, but its fully charged....I guess this kind of setup isn't worthy of a M130-M140-M150 spring. I need a 8.4V 3600mAh battery which I'm getting and a ICS 3000 motor, MOSFET, Deans plugs, new 16awg wire. Then I should be rockin prettymuch any setup I want.

Sometimes the cheap route doesn't work out too well.

The mechbox was entirely stock aside from bushings and spring.

A 8.4v 3600 should be fine as long as the cells are quality. You want amps more than volts. Don't get me wrong, volts are great, but amps is where its at. Thats why a 7.4v lipo is the equivalent to a 9.6v nimh. Besides, I've pulled a m130 on a 6 year old 8.4v 1700 NiCD. ROF wasn't great but I still consider it an accomplishment for such an old battery.

Is there any way for a ITU gears to put more stress on the motor then standard ratio gears? It seems that I have no battery life when I fire with this M130 now I get out about 100-200 rounds a battery, but, when I used stock ratio gears lastyear, same spring, I could go all day using only 1 battery. Is that the sign of a worn out motor?

I'm getting really tempted to buy the Guarder ITU motor with about no money in my bank account right now...lol
I just changed out the M130 for a M120, cleaned off all the gears and put what I had left of lithium grease. It's 150% better. The thing has like the fastest trigger responce, even on ITU gears. It's like pulling nothing.
I wonder if the grease was the culprate, there was a bunch of gunk where the silicon oil was around the gears. hmmm... Maybe Silicon for gears is underrated at how bad it can be...
