Day started off good

Well today could have been better! Four of us jumped into a friends car and started off at noon for the hour and a half drive to Prince George for the CQB game. Around 7pm we noticed it was started to snow so we decided to cut our game short and head home. 10 minutes later we ended up totally my friends car due to the amount of ice. In fact, 6 other accidents were reported due to road conditions before us.

The owner of the car went home with the gear to his pregnant wife who was worried sick along with another member who had to work in the morning and had a worried girlfriend.

I got a ride in the back of an RCMP cruiser along with the other team mate to the hospital due to injuries. We have to spend the night here in PG and then just take the bus home.

The scariest part is we hit with enough force that the dash moved about half an inch over my knees (main injury including back) and yet neither the driver side nor the passenger side airbags went off. So we will certainly be talking to Ford about that one.

Anyways the driver and I were the only ones injured and even my injuries were just muscle damage.

UPDATE:
Sunny day turned into a blizzard equals black ice. We slide 20 feet uphill without slowing down, hit the truck, and then bounced back down the hill 10 feet before finally coming to a stop.

Driver and I both have minor muscle type injuries and backseat passengers were both ok.

And then I remember this quote from Fight Club;

Quote:
Narrator: A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.
Business woman on plane: Are there a lot of these kinds of accidents?
Narrator: You wouldn't believe.
Business woman on plane: Which car company do you work for?
Narrator: A major one.
Certainly glad you're okay, though.

At least the ride to the hospital was in the cruiser and not an ambulance... or worse...

Good to hear you're mostly ok...

They let you use the internet in the hospital?

at least you are alright, lives are irreplaceable.

as for the airbag issue, perhaps the computers calculated that it was better for it not to go off. Airbags can potentially cause more damage if it were deployed in unsuitable/low speed situations. We'll wait for the pics in the meantime before conclusions are drawn.

Airbags get funny when its cold sometimes. Had the same sort of deal happen when we were driving a Pontiac Transport. Of course that spaceship looking piece of shit is a death trap to begin with.

Also BB I just bought some of your BBs, Looking forward to playing with them.

the internet is at the home of the head of the PG airsoft group, he picked the two of us at the hospital after we were there for 2 hours last night. 9-11 at a damn hospital!

heres the story on the airbags, the car has only been owned by my friend for just less than a year, maybe just over actually. It was a 2002 Ford Focus SE. Before my friend had bought the car off Fords lot, it had been rear ended while the previous owner (who had bought it new) was driving it and set both airbags off. They had reset the airbags or whatever they did, repaired the car, and sold it off their lot.

Its not the fact that we needed the airbags, but they still should have gone off with the drivers side headlight touching the firewall and the dash on my side moving in half an inch.

Anytime you can walk away from a car accident, it's a good thing man. Glad to hear you're ok for the most part.

ouch...that was a scary accident. what did you hit to cause the hood to fold up, while the front bumper didn't get crushed? Perhaps its because your main impact was near the hood and not the front crumple zones, hence the sensors didn't go off? *i'm just speculating*
