400 FPS upgrade, Need advise on parts
Hello, again, I am in need of help on upgrading.
I have a TM M4A1 with PDI 130% spring and Guarder Double oil Channel bushings. Also a KM TN 6.04 and a systema hop up. Other than that it's all stock internals. So I want to install the following: Spring: http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...tema%20Springs or http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=579 Spring Guide: http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=431 Would the spring be too strong and break my internals/mechshell? Any advise would be appreciated, thank you :P. I asked the same things on ASR but they don't give me adequate answers. Sorry, I actually feel like spamming =( Last edited by Skladfin; August 27th, 2007 at 01:48.. |

ohhhhh its gonna shatter your mechbox like a crystal glass taking on a cement block.
you'll need either a guarder or hurriance reinforced V2 mechbox shell, and a good piston, piston head, and cylinder head: systema polycarbonate piston and systema silent head set should do it! the silent head set has less shock on the mechbox as aluminum or straight plastic. |

If you install a Systema silent head set, that alone should be enough to allow your stock gearbox to take the beating.

What's wrong with 360 fps? 400 is really unhealthy for V2s... It's like giving a 5 year old cigars..

Would it not just be cheaper to get the Systema Complete mechbox with the M150 spring ?

You are aware that a 150 spring will put out around 490fps right?
Regarding the 400fps, why not just got for 360ish like mentioned above? Is safer on your mechbox, and has the same kinda range and ability as a 400fps gun, without the risk of blowing your mechbox as fast (remember, reinforced mechboxes just take longer to break than stock ones) and without finding out your gun shoots a bit over 400fps and not be allowed to use it at a game. For years I've been using MP5s that shoot around 360-380fps, they have great penetration with 0.25g or 0.28g BBs, and the range is out to about 200ft pretty decently. IMO, 400fps should never be a goal, it should be left as a maximum. |

Thanks for the advises. I think I'm just going to get a PDI 150% spring and the systema silent headset as mentioned above(And the spring guide).
It's fine if I go over just alittle over 400FPS(Which I don't think I am going to) because BCAC allows for 410FPS. By the way, someone at ASR said this: "An 8.4v 1200mah WILL NOT WORK. You need a 9.6v, the higher to 4200mah the better. That 8.4v will NOT pull the spring." This is untrue, correct? Also, what's the lemon rate of PDI 150% spring nowadays? PDI 150% is around 395fps. Yeah I meant to put the M120 setup and not the 150. The systema M120 spring puts out around the same FPS as the PDI 150. Do you other guys think it would be better to get one of those Systema Turbo kits ? It's only bout 30fps less than that PDI spring but think of the rate it would be shooting.

PDI 150% sping will put out between 340fps and 440fps, depending on which batch you get. Avoid at all costs, just get a good Prometheus spring, a 110 or 120 and you won't have to deal with any surprises. Also, your rate of fire will suffer. Case in point, one of my MP5s has a 150% in it powered by an 8.4V 3300mAh battery (has a bearing spring guide and longer barrel, used to shoot 385fps), and my other has a Prometheus 110 spring in it (chronied at 365fps) and even when powered by an 8.4V 600mAh battery, had close to double the rate of fire.
Incidentally, I have a good PDI 150% (meaning 350fps) in my main MP5, have had it for about three years, it blew my stock mechbox after two months. Put in a Hurricane reinforced mechbox, after two years it blew that one too. If you get a bad 150% (75% of them are these days) it'll blow real easy, even if you have the silent piston head. Don't take chances with PDI springs, no matter what gun you are putting it in (PDI 300% nearly destroyed my CA M24 as well). Last edited by CDN_Stalker; August 27th, 2007 at 15:06.. |

My airsoft surgeon stage 3 spring broke my Guarder reinforced gearbox before 5000rnds had been fired from it.
