Names vs callsigns
Wasn't sure if this belonged here, but here goes.
When it comes to name tape/tags on your gear, which is standard/preferred: Putting your actual name/last name, or some sort of nickname? I mean, does anybody actually use nametape for reasons beyond the look? I would hope so, so we don't have to gesture at each other and go "Hey! You! YOU IN THE GREEN!". But yeah, is there any sort of general preference folks have? Just curious.

Almost everyone I saw had their nicknames as nametapes, because when you call on the radio you use your nickname, so it's much easier to put a face once in a respawn !

Always the nickname. I can count on 2 hands the real full names of players here playing airsoft. You know them as a nickname, and not by their full names. Plus on the field it's much easier remembering them and faster to put a name on their faces.
Even though I have some friends here, I still call them by their nickname outside airsoft sometimes

With our team we have our nickname, but we also have callsign tags on our gear, ie, with myself real last name is Wilson, nickname medhatboy, radio callsign Xray20.

Annoying sometimes when you hang out with your Airsoft friends and you call them by their call-sign in public.

I don't have a nametape... just an unforgettable personality.
And a beard.

Almost everyone calls me Drake out in public. It's probably the name I respond most to at this point.

Everyone on the field calls me Huggy-Bear. Still not sure why.

People from about 5 different forums call me Coach IRL so that's what I put on my nametape. I know several who use their last name.

Same for me, a lot of friends call me Fox. The most awkward moment is when you don't know the real name and call the persone on his home phone and someone else answer...

I've carried the nickname Crunchmeister for close to 20 years now. Outside of work, few people call me my real name. In some cases, like the local music scene, most people would respond with a look of confusion when told my name, but say Crunchmeister and everyone knows who you're talking about.

We had a guy that we called Ashley. He's a good friend but if you asked me his real name I wouldn't be able to tell you without looking at my contacts list on my phone
