WE PDW/M4 Magazine Leak Question

Hi,

Well I'm pretty new to GBBR and just picked up a WE PDW (open bolt) recently and I've read that WE has been prone for leaks on their magazines and I currently own one mag right now (green gas/propane version) and have had a seriously bad leak in the mag at several locations.

I've got an order of four PDW mags and four M4 mags (both open bolt version) on the way which leads to my question. Are all, or high percentage, of WE PDW/M4 magazines prone to leaks or have many of you had little to no problems at all with your mags?

I'm asking this because I'd like to know if I have to tear down all my mags when they come in and do a full reseal of all of them to ensure I have no leaks and can keep them that way for a very long time. Should I go ahead and do this for all the mags coming in (leak or no leak)??

FYI. zong has a very detailed thread about GBBR magazine repair and maintenance. click here

Also might want check out the Mag care section towards the bottom of the following thread by ShelledPants: click here

PS - ignore any weird spelling or odd words that may pop up. I did this on my iPhone with a screwed up spelling corrections

Personaly I would do a full reseal on all mags, leaking or not. The WE mags don't have very good seal from factory so you should remake those before a game just to be sure you don't put an empty mag in.

WE seems to have a 50:50 ratio on good mags and leaky mags, however, out of the 4 i ordered, 2 leaked, and now none leak as i just needed to tighten everything up.

So try tightening everything you see with threading.

Hit them with oily gas,

the seals dry out in inventory and during shipping,

For most this sorts them out.. Some need to be "z0nged" but his guide step by steps the fix

awesome.. thanks for the advice. Seeing how it is a hit or miss with WE mags I'll take the less extreme approach tightening up the screws and let it sit with oil and green gas for a while when they come in.

If that doesn't work then going to seal em up using the guide. Hopefully i'll have some working mags to run with at the first TTAC 2011 event =)
