Question Talk me out of buying Crye Multicam BDU! Crye alternatives?

I'm 5'2" + muscular build + size Small/Short in BDU (yes I'm asian, so what?) and I would like to buy a Multicam BDU.

Here is my dilemma...

...its almost impossible to find a Multicam BDU in my size in Canada. I've found one in my size @ GreatAdventure.ca made by Propper, but I've seen/read reviews and I'm not impressed with Propper's build quality. I also don't want to buy replica for the same reason. The only other success in my search was from Crye Precision (US site) and they do have my size! I really like the Crye Combat AC pants and shirt, but to make my wife happy, I must look around for a comparable quality BDU @ a lower price. If I cant find one, then I have no choice but to buy Crye! She already understands my situation because she even shorter then me (5'0") and since I love her with all my heart, I must TRY to find an alternative but it must be good-best quality.

Can anyone help me?

I have some Helikon stuff, and it's very good. And not expensive. Camogrom I believe is Crye licensed.

Here is Helikon stuff on eBay.

Nocturnal (wife's nephew) has been a great help to me. He's introduced me to airsoft and has been a great ambassador to the airsoft sport. But I cant expect him to spoon feed everything to his Uncle. Good thing I'm a fast learner.

As for Helikon-Tex, cant seem to be able to check out their gear or download their catalogue. I check out the Helikon-Tek ebay link, but still nothing in my size.

Further posters please remember that my BDU size is Small/Short.... NOT Short/Regular!

Thanks in advance.

Unless you have your heart set on buying Canadian, check out http://www.voodootactical.net/, I bought a pair of Propper AOR1 trousers from them via eBay, and had no problems.

I can have access to a line of real multicam (Full Clip) if you're interested. I have small sizes, it's real, AND it has a lifetime warranty.

Some comments (I'm a retailer in the US and carry all of these brands, but I don't retail to Canada so my comments are just about the quality, etc.)

I carry Helikon Camogrom. It is not licensed by Crye, and it is equivalent to the China knock offs in terms of quality. They make a MARPAT knock off too, which even has the EGA. It is cheap clothing for those who just don't want to spend a lot.

Propper and TruSpec both make licensed Multicam uniforms, and are actually "issue" quality. But some times issue items don't necessarily mean the best quality. They are good quality and should hold up fine. As long as you wash them properly (no optical brighteners) they should not fade rapidly on you.

Crye is obviously high quality but high price.

Claw Gear makes a Crye quality multicam uniform called their TDU (MTP is on the way too) and it has a middle road price tag, between the Tru Spec/Propper and Crye. The Crye TDU is in use by many (smaller) military and police units around the world. Even the Palm Springs police department's tactical team uses their TDU (in Bushveldt pattern.)

In the end, if you are just airsofting, I don't have any issue with Tru Spec or Propper quality. If you want the knee and eblow pads, you have to go Claw Gear or Crye.

Sorry guys if i wasn't specific enough, My main concern is getting pants that fit. My inseam is about 24" and my waist is about 28"(tight/snug) - 30"(with belt... I'm getting thinner because I'm working out more). The shirt will be easier to shop for (Small/Short or Small/Regular).

PaddMadd - You must have not read my post carefully enough, I'm anti-Propper and anti-RepoCrap due to build quality. Im very picky when it comes to product quality when I'm going to spend my hard earned cash. I buy $30 pair of jeans, but I don't roll around in the bush in my jean. If I spend more $ on BDU, it better come with the kitchen sink and last me for a very long time, to justify the cost increase.

I've spent almost $300 on one Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi (kimono) because I know it was built to last, and they paid close attention to detail.

I don't want to "Buy cheap, buy twice"!

Just to be more clear, I'm 99% going to buy the Tru-Spec Tactical Response Combat Shirt (Multicam) if they have my size. If not then Crye!

Honestly man. If you want to be really cool and gucci go for it spend all your money if it makes you feel better. But propper makes great BDUs that last. I like the truspec TRU line aswell, they've done me very well and I've shifted to the TRU cut from my propper BDU cut clothing. TRU cut is wide though, but that works since you're short and stocky. 80% of my pants are TRU now and holding up great with every day use.

I'm going to talk you into buying it. It's quality is worth the price. Where were you planning on ordering it from?

My only piece of Crye gear is a Range Vest and it's light years ahead of most of the various other items I've seen and used in MC.
