Is it safe to use paintball masks for airsofting?
I have this cheap mask from Evike that has held up okay so far, but it's time for a better one. I have not come across any high end airsoft masks, maybe someone should make one? I was researching and found out that some people use paintball masks for airsoft, but I have not come across any reviews where someone has verified that airsoft bbs (.2g going 500fps) won't shatter paintball masks since we do use smaller harder ammunition where the force isn't spread over a large surface. In addition to that our bbs don't shatter easily whereas paintballs do splatter which helps release the energy. I'm thinking of getting one of those JT spectra masks with the fan to defog, there's a pretty good deal going on that's $40 for the mask + fan.

Most "Airsoft" goggles protect at like 3.4Joules while Paintball are certified for 11 Joules. Which one sounds better?
Your over-thinking the process. Also that $40 + plus fan is American. Add shipping to that and any custom charges and anything else and it'll be more than buying it within Canada. |

Ok thanks for the responses. I'm now worried about the bbs going through the part that covers the mouth area. Maybe I can find a way to glue something there to plug up the holes.

I have the exact same mask.... believe me... it's not cheaply made...
I actually removed all the "mask" parts... to only keep the goggles... But I might put them back on if I ever play in a CQB game... I personally hate aiming with a mask... because I just CANT.... |

Dude. Your thinking way to much. If you actually took the time to check the mask out you would notice that BB's WILL NOT go through the mask. I have the exact same one. A BB CANNOT fit through the holes.

a bb didn't even go through a custom inner foam barrel I made for my silencer. And I cranked my hop up to the max.
So your safe with the goggles. Also realize that the max fps in most games are 450 for snipers (who are certified and trained through a course) and 400 for anything else. Now that's just the restrictions I've seen around games in ontario, may be more or less in other provinces. |

as I said before the limits in Ont. or any other province don't mean a thing to him.
