The pin seems to be set at 150 can that be spread out? Maybe 150 is not a big enough area for some?

Not to mention how can major ops be shown country wide? Like rino. Or claybank?

It can be changed from 50km to global

Thanks, but for this weeks game I just want to leave it as is so players can get info but since the rules were messed up. I figured I'd just add them to the list myself for this week anyway. Will add that in for the following week. A third of the players that manage to attend Sgt. Splatters can't even be bothered to post "IN" on ASC/OPS-Center anyhow.

I really like ops center... Ive been signed up for a little while now, browsing and what not. The games I have been playing, the hosts havent used ops center for though.

I like it all, I wish all hosts would jump on board. I use / used asc for signing up to games, and while on asc I check other airsoft discussions/topics.

But if I dont have to use asc for signing up to games I wouldnt have a reason to come to this airsoft forum anymore. high five.

Use case: New user signing up for first game on ops-center
Details:
- created local account (no facebook auth)
- clicked a game, attempted to join a side
- agreed to the game fee (greyed out) and read the rules dialog
- error: you must be at least 18 to play
- went into edit profile, changed my dob, info, saved
- went back into the game, clicked join
- agreed to game fee (greyed out) and read the rules dialog
- success

happy path:
- force user to edit profile info (esp DOB) immediately after new account creation

FEATURE REQUEST:
under "weapon options", have a drop-down for FPS of the rifle in 5 fps increments. e.g. 350, 355, 360, 365, 370...
e.g.
manufacturer, model, status, fps

perhaps also add an option for "cqb" under status... many of us have guns tuned <350fps specifically for cqb venues

this option would be useful for hosts keeping an eye on fps limits

Great timeline post dude, just showing that its straight forward and not hard to get used to!

Submit that via the Feedback tab on the right of ops-center, and we can get it programed in, or on the list for the next version! Still just trying to get the full basic up and running 100%

A general best practice of UI design is to make things work the way the user expects them to work. Seems obvious, but it's actually pretty hard. There are two ways to figure that out: ask them (do user testing) and look at what everyone else does. Poor man's user testing is listening to all the cranky people like me and see where they get stuck.

The big players here: Facebook and Eventbrite. They both have easy "i'm attending"-type links prominently displayed.

The major fail in the current Ops Centre UI is that in order to attend an event, you have to find the choose a side option. But users expect that in order to join an event they should click "join" somewhere. There is no join button. To make matters worse, the "choose a side" button is buried down below, in the third tab on a set of info tabs.

Ideally, the button to join/attend would be on the main page in plain view. Now, it can send the user wherever you want - to a page that makes them first choose a side, or pay, or whatever - but that first action of saying "I want to join" is what they expect.

The most important thing you could do to improve the UI of the site would be to address that issue, IMHO.

Hey,

That is an excellent piece of feedback... We are striving to make it as user friendly as possible, and its user feedback which helps the most. So on the main thread page, we post a "Join Event" Button, which takes you right to the sides tab, and brings up the options on which side to join, then takes you through the accept options to sign you up officially.

I will submit that right away, I also want it to add right in the Join Sides tab, a display of what camo/other requirements for each team are right there.

Indeed...we are looking at a more "wizard like" signup pathway that will get all the details from players that is needed for OPS-Center to work properly.

If i might make a suggestion on how to make the UI as user friendly as possible, get a random person to try it that has never seen it before, preferably one who doesn't even really know what they are trying to do. Remove as many preconceptions from the equation as possible.

When you think you've got it setup nicely, just snag a neighbor or a sibling or someone who has never seen the app before and ask them to find a game, or sign up for a game. The more guinea pigs the better, there's a whole science to what users expect for UI/interactions.

I'm not kidding, we've used this all the time in product and website pre-deployments. We used the receptionists, our wives, heck i think I even asked my elderly aunt to find info on a product or submit a support request on a page I was building. If it took more than 10-15 seconds we counted that as a fail, that's about average of how long a user is willing to spend trying to figure something out.

If they start having to hunt for things, ask them where they look first.
