Well, I'm currently "stuck" with Parklands until I land the cash to get some Frontenac or some surplus cadpat.
Either way, thanks for all your input guys. |

Don't get me wrong, Parkland's Canada Cadpat isn't bad, it's just that it's off colour from the issue and Frontenac stuff, and it's white on the inside, meaning the colours & pattern are printed on one side of the fabric (hence the fading faster), whereas the issue & Frontenac stuff is almost the same outside as in (inside is same pattern just fuzzy).
Wear your Parkland's Cadpat with pride, and when it wears out, go for Frontenac or issue stuff. By the time your Parklands becomes unuseable (whitish) there might be more issue stuff on the market. I have a 1st gen issue cadpat jacket that has faded, but it's faded in a way that the dark green colour has become more of a greenish brown. Otherwise it is great, works well among cedars and other foliage. |

Machine wash is fine, but the key is a spoonfool of detergent, and not putting them in the dryer.. the dryer loosens the threads (on a regular hot setting) and they start to some apart and the color starts comming out when washed again.. like i said, ive had my cadpat 2 years, and worn them religiousaly for thoes years practicaly every weekend, and no color loss.. and we all know how first gen cadpat was for color loss when not taken care off...
now i wear danish and my multicam.. the multicam was actualy MADE to fade slightly.. mine havent though and im on about wash 20

I asked about Cadpat to a CF soldier I ran into near my work (CFB Uplands) and he said they fade pretty quick (regarding the first Gen at least) but he said that most guys are lazy and "boil the shit outta them when washing, then dry the heck outta them in the dryer, therefore they fade pretty fast."
If you are like me, do your own laundry yet have no clue WTF all those little squares, triangles and circles mean, don't do hot, do warm or cold, pull out and hang up to dry. If you want it dry faster, toss it in the dryer for 5mins or so, then pull out to hang dry. It dries a LOT faster that way, without damage. |
