For guns bought Prior to 2008

So I haven't caught up much on the legalities regarding Airsoft til recently.

Imagine my surprise when I poke through 007's store and read the blurb noting that only guns with clear receivers can be sold to Canadian civilians now.

Sucks on more than one level since it means those aspirations of getting that TM PSG-1 some day (yeah yeah, don't laugh :P) go out the window.

The bigger problem though are the two guns that I had bought before this new legislation passed (a TM FAMAS, and a KSC Glock) both don't fall into the criteria.

Now obviously the idea of giving up $600+ in Airsoft gear doesn't exactly appeal, nor do criminal charges though.

So I have to ask: is there anything I can do to retain ownership of these and not get in trouble for it?

I imagine this has come up plenty before, but the first few pages didn't yield anything. Thanks guys!

As far as I know there are no laws that prohibit a person from owning an airsoft gun, from what I recall the majority of the laws in Canada simply cover purchasing one. I suppose it takes one to do the other but as it stands you should be fine.
Continue to treat them with care and respect and keeping them out of the general publics view and you should be fine to have them as long as wish.

Darn. There goes my aspirations of parading around downtown with it!

Thanks for the replies. While it's not as clear cut as I'd have liked (face it: what IS clear cut with this sport: save the receivers now) any insight is appreciated

Get age-verified. Lots of great guns in the classifieds.

The law on replicas hasn't changed since 1998. All that's changed in the past couple of years is enforcement of importation and sales of said guns. That being said, there are still assloads of non-clear guns, but new and used, readily available to age-verified members of this forum.
