Personally, my prefered method to send somthing is the same thing my dad does, VIA the bus, good old greyhound. A photographer in regina contacted me in the morning and requested a few articles of clothing from my shop for a shoot. I packed up what he needed in a box and headed down to the bus station. Fairly cheap to send something by bus, its dependant on the size of the parcel though. Four hours later I got a phone call saying that he checked the arrival time of the bus that I told him the parcel was on, went to the bus station and picked up the package within 15 minutes of the bus arriving.

Now I dont know how safe I would feel sending an AEG this way, but if there was insurance I wouldnt see why not, with good communication and coordination it wouldnt be that bad of a thing to do. Granted everything was properly packaged and no mishaps occured, you know things like bus going into the ditch and such.
Yeah the biggest thing is the time it takes greyhound! A parcel across canada is 8-14 days! Greyhound can usually do it 90% of the time within 3 days!

Doesn't Canada Post have a new regulation against shipping firearms, replica or otherwise? That could be your problem.

As far as I know all of the online tracking systems are not real time, they're based on a best guess system of where the package should be based on transit time. If you have a contact who's a supervisor inside the freight company they can provide a scanning history to you but it's an internal request that the public can't access.

Shipping with any freight company right around December isn't a good idea. That is the busiest time of year for any of them.

CP is the best bargin service. Bus is good but expensive. FedEx etc better but expensive again.

No.

There is no rule about disclosing what are shipping unless its hazardous material and firearms are shippable without any process other than normal shipping processes and an ATT if it is a restricted firearm. Other than that, CP doesn't care.

Canada Post is simple. Insure it for what the value of the item is. If the item gets lost, make a claim. I've gotten claims sorted out within 30 days. A good retailer that insures a package is perfectly safe shipping by CP. All this talk in this thread about CP being a crappy shipping system - any shipping company will lose and break stuff. Accept it and insure it and move on.

Sounds to me like you need a cooperative shipper who communicates in this case. IF he did indeed ship it, he is the only one who can make the claim and follow it up. Sounds to me like he needs to get his head out of his ass and service his customer.

CP tracking is like this:

Your item will be scanned when its shipped, scanned once it reaches a sorting point like vancouver (not all parcels do this step), scanned once it reaches your home city (although its delivered the same day its scanned), and then its updated once its delivered.

Not exactly. Like I said in my earlier post - with my M15 rifle from A&A. All it said for the 5 days I waited was that electronic details on my package had been submitted. For a couple of days after I received it, I checked the CP site for kicks, and it was never updated. Then about 10 days after I received it, I got about 10 emails from CP at once, all "updating me" on the whereabouts of my package. That's not a good tracking system IMO.

And when I got my G17 from Hellfire, it took 12 days to get to me from BC. Those whole while, the only update on CP's site was that electronic details had been submitted. It was only the day after I received it that I got all the emails from CP again - and it stopped at 2 sortation plants along the way where it was scanned..

Although in fairness, I've never had a problem with CP shipping until the last 2 months or so. Other than the tracking system, it's always been fast and reliable.

That's actually against the company policy... I wouldn't give you any trouble at all... But I can just see the flurry of shiat that would stir up if the contents somehow got exposed...

I told my local greyhound station what it was exactlly and they were fine with it. The only company that had sort of a hard time was purolator and all they did was write "paintball gun" on the parcel.

you have to expect delays when you order that close to the holidays. The CP delivery guy just left my offices and he said they are still backed up from christmas.

my items (normally international both personal and work) CP does a good job keeping the online track system up to date, normally updates 2-4 after the event happened.

case in point some AS related items i have coming from the UK, got them email saying my items cleared customs at 8:29 this morning, email got to me around 11. but thats international how they work nationally i dunno i normally use gray hound or puro.
