VFC VR16 Disassembly Pin Issue

I'm trying to take the gearbox out of the gun right now, and I'm having an issue where the pin above the trigger refuses to come out and I'm scared to damage the gun if I try to hammer it out too hard. Has this happened to anyone else?

Remove the pistol grip before hammering.
Make sure you are hammering in the direction OPPOSITE that of the rear receiver pin.

Had this issue too on the Mk18Mod1. It is in there tight.

Make sure all the other push pins are in before doing that one.

Make sure you have a proper punch and hammer to drive it out.

As it starts to move stop and verify you can see knurls on the exposed section. If you can't then you're likely hammering from the wrong side.

You can also put the receiver on a small block of wood to support it as you hammer. You can drive that pin into the wood and not hurt it. Then you can just wiggle it out after with your fingers.

in my 6 am sleep deprived mode I managed to get it out with the following conditions:

-all pins were in (in fact gun was still assembled)
-i pushed the knurled right through the whole thing somehow =_=
-i ended up using a screwdriver that fit the hole perfectly to punch it out because I couldn't find a punch at 6am.

Gun still works through that so eh I guess. Gonna make sure next time I'm doing it properly though.

pushing the knurled pin through the wrong side eventually widens the holes in the receiver and this is how you lose the pin.

Sadly though, not all the makers do the pins the same way. VFCs are punched opposite to the rear pin, while others are not. So always remember the way it came out, it has to go back in the same preferably.

You can get a fat pin if it turns into throwing a hot dog down the hallway.

Next time check and I like to flip my punch pins so they all go out the same side as my push pins.

And last it`s best to walk away from a sleep deprived repair session. It is always possible to make things worse when you do that.

Amen. I haven't repaired Airsoft guns, but when when repairing anything else (car, house, electronics), never try to fix things when you're 1. sleepy, 2. angry/frustrated, 3. in a hurry/rushed for time.

Taking time to prep your workspace (tools at hand, good clear working area) and get yourself into the right mental space is never time wasted.

Like trying to put back an AK trigger in a V3 gearbox.
