I've also not noticed significant range, accuracy or precision increases from varying lengths of barrels. I have several length prommy EG barrels and have installed many others and brands into guns with uniform compression (with proper volume matching) and hop up rubber configurations. Provided you get a tight air seal, there's little difference in results when it comes to the length.
On configurations with over volume, some things might change such as ability to shoot heavier rounds at a higher J output than with .2s on the same setup.
Piston assembly weight also comes into effect in how the air charge is delivered and how fast, what the acceleration curve is, etc... I haven't done any scientific testing myself but several higher end techs have experimented and or made observations.
With so many different factors affecting the shot, just changing the length doesn't do as much as some people perceive it might.
