The fact that airsoft guns can now be purchased so easy makes this job even more important, clubs have to do everything in their power to stay united on this lack of respect and distance themselves from the losers, if the law and community sees that we are making a very conscious effort and not just shrugging our shoulders and shaking our heads, they will be more forgiving to the sport instead of throwing poop on everything to do with airsoft, all people will see then if it ever came to legislation is, "ah get rid of these nuisance toys"
flame them, ban them, take pics and post them, dont be afraid to turn them in, our right to play this game and own the guns is only as strong as the commitment to keep the sport respectful, there is no way we will stop all stupidity but the obvious stuff in front of our face has to be dealt with firmly.
110% agreed!!!!

Why should it be an issue, you have "zombies" shambling down the street why not zombie hunters. There is nothing inherently wrong with what they did, other than possibly breaking a local bylaw.

You should not be afraid to show off the gear associated with your sport, even if your sport is airsoft. These are in the last and simplest definition toys, ok big boy toys but toys all the same.

Real many steelowners have the same attitude they go through ridiculous lengths to hide the fact that they have firearms and use them. I am not referring to hiding their firearms from the criminal element but rather their neighbors and other law abiding citizens.

This is where a small special interest group who hates guns and anything to do with them has brought us. Anything to do with firearms is evil even toy ones.

This last one comes down to the simplest thing of all, Darwin in action, you can not stop incredibly stupid actions by otherwise rational persons. Pointing any type of weapon real or otherwise at an armed individual, be it police or an armed thug will result in life threatening injury or death. Yes it will make the news but the simple reality in most cases is suicide by cop.

You can not more stop these things from happening than you can stop an earthquake or other nature disaster. Some people are simply wired wrong or just plain wired.

And remember unless you point that weapon at the police they will tell you drop it. If you choose to lift and point at them that is your personal conscious choice.

GOOD LUCK ON THE OK!!
City of Barrie By-Law

1.4.0.0.0 FIREARM - means a barreled weapon from which any shot, bullet or other
projectile can be discharged and that is capable of causing serious bodily injury
or death to a person, and for the purpose of this by-law shall also include an air
gun, pellet gun, BB gun, paint ball marker, cross bow, long bow, traditional bow
and compound bow or anything that can be adapted for use as a firearm.

2.0.0.0.0 FIREARMS
2.1.0.0.0 No person shall discharge any firearm or any class or type thereof as defined
under this by-law within the City with the exception of the following:
2.1.1.0.0 a peace officer discharging a firearm in the course of carrying out his duties as a
peace officer;
2.1.2.0.0 a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer of the City in the course of carrying out his
duties of destroying an animal;
2.1.3.0.0 a shooting competition or display, provided Council has, by resolution, given its
consent to the holding of such competition or display;
2.1.4.0.0 activities carried on at the premises commonly known as the “Armouries” utilized
by the Department of National Defense and located at 37 Parkside Drive, Barrie,

I know it say's discharge but any gun capable of firing a projectile should be handled with more responsibility and concern and care and not flaunted in down town Barrie. I'm a Licensed real steel gun collector and take it seriously.
As it says in the manuals or on the boxes of the airsoft guns we buy, NOT A TOY!! so why flaunt in public?

Its only my personal option but it is not a light hearted matter and we should discuss and learn from this and strengthen our club/team/field rules off this incident. After all anyone over the age of 18 should know better. Tragic accidents happen every day over stupidity.
Is there really such a thing as Accident. Or human error. All us Airsofters really truly don't need the publicity in this way.
