M4 metal body compatibility
I have a G&G GR-16 (M16 lenght) with a lower tinted receiver that I think is made with reinforced nylon.
I was wondering where I could find a suitable metal lower receiver that would fit with my rifle. I was told by some persons that G&G were a bit capricious about compatibility, but that D-Boys ones should fit, can somebody confirm me this? Oh and I would like opinion about the advantages of changing it vs keeping it as long as its operational. I am not a big fan of changing things that are not broken, but if it's going to give me more performance why not. Thanks for your answers and time Patrick |

Speaking from personal experience, it will break.
Mine has been very well treated, but there are some serious failure points on those plastic bodies; namely where the stock meets the pseudo-buffer tube. My gun works great. I've been able to play indoors and outdoors without issue or modification. I really like it, but after careful inspection, I can't see how that particular part wouldn't fail. My RK47 has a very similar problem. There are a few metal bodies floating around the classifieds but everyone I talk to seems to have a different opinion on which brands work and which don't, and few of the people I've talked to have even spent much time working on G&Gs. I am ultimately happy with my purchase, but I think it would be real nice if the Canadian retailers who have been stocking cansoft G&G products could put some effort into bringing in G&G metal lower receivers. There's really just no way around needing one. |

From my experiences, I've had problems when trying to fit different upper and lower brands, and going with a full upper and lower kit was much easier, but had to do some minor modifications to fit front ends.

You WILL have fitment issue if the lower is not G&G and ESPECIALLY if it is a dboys. Just finished putting a scratch m4 together with a dboys body. Got it done but what a nightmare. The clear lowers are not nylon btw they are a cheap as shit tinted plastic. The tint makes it less strong by polluting the plastic. Leave it till it breaks and then buy a complete metal body, you will have less issues this way.

Yhea, G&G clear bodies are kind of shitty. They are full of air bubbles...

But would any full metal body (upper and lower) fit with the rest of my G&G GR-16.
Thats my main concern, I don't care getting a full set but I would be so pissed if I can't fit my front and full stock with it. Oh and the mechbox in it is V2, does that make a difference in the choice of metal body? |

Every M4/M16 has a V2 mechbox.

Get a whole new metal body. Use your other one for a loaner gun in progress.

Just buy a full metal king arms M4. And then build whatever you want, by combining it with your G&G. Once you are done, sell the remainers as a franken gun lol
You will save more money that way, rather than buying the body alone.

A Dboys lower will fit. My first AR was a G&G cansoft GR-16, I replaced it after parts snapped.
