Motorola Saber 1E programming - Toronto
Anyone know of somewhere in Toronto/GTA/not-too-far-away I can either:
1. Get the software/cables/RIB/etc... that I need to program a Motorola Saber 1E? or 2. Take my radio to get the programming changed up a bit? Thanks, Tys |

Getting the cable and RIB that you need can be easily done online. The problem comes into finding the software and the right computer for it. If you want to be sure of not damaging the radio in any way you have to use a 486DX which turns out to be a bitch to find these days.

The computer HAS to be a 486DX50 (486 running at 50 mhz) processor or you will brick the radio. The Motorola software runs on DOS 6 and is 100% command line. If you don't perform the procedure right, you can brick the radio. Quote:
They won't program outside of those freqs unless you have a license.

Thanks guys.
Yeah...I really, really don't want to do it myself, but I will if that's all I've got as an option. There's a great place where we bought our stuff from...but it's pretty far out (i.e. I've got to take the day off work to get there, let the old dude work his mojo and get back before my wife figures out I skipped out of work for airsoft stuff ). Moto won't sell me the software...not a related business/club/etc... I'd prefer a local place to have someone program it for me. The batlabs stuff was good...but read through it a couple of days ago and it'd be a stretch for me. If you guys have any other leads...shoot me a PM. Thanks! Tys |
