outer barrel and MOE

I have a Magpul MOE handguard on the way. The m4 barrel I have now is the one designed for a free float rail system. It doesn't have the regular two little metal tabs on the sides that stop the plastic handguards from rotating once on the gun.

For anyone with a MOE; will I need to buy a new barrel with these original plastic handguard alignment tabs?

OR

Is there a way to work around it?

When you're talking about metal tabs, do you mean on the handguard cap that sits just behind the front sight?

As long as you still have a proper barrel nut, the MOE will index on that.

I mean the metal tabs close to the delta ring. I am wondering if the tabs on the handguard cap will be enough to lock the grip in (side to side wobble wise).

I had a regular m4 barrel (original sights, delta ring, etc), traded the barrel itself for a free-float compatible one; and now want to change the handguard to the MOE for size and weight constraints.

The Saint, I saw the foliage green one you have on your Star M4, that's what gave me the idea.

You're talking about the lugs that are on the barrel or the lug that the barrel slides onto?

I would recommend a G&P style delta ring it will give you the best fit and secure the gun with no handguard wobble.

on the barrel, right where the barrel widens out before inserting into the receiver

I think I get what your talking about
The MOE handguard aligns itself by your barrel nut, and it's held in by the delta ring and the front handguard ring
