Doctor Sight Protection
Simply put, how do you go about protecting a doctor sight? I personally haven't seen any third party lens protectors for them, and I don't really want to run it unprotected....

Shield mounted in front of it?
Just be careful with those ones, the shield is made of acrylic which I've had shatter from a bb hit. It did it's job but I ended up making my own out of lexan which is 10 times harder. |

I plan on attaching a small piece of polycarbonate or similar directly in front of the lens.
Just not touching the lens to prevent the transfer of energy if it ever gets hit. |

Cant do that since its sitting on top of a sight already.

This is pretty much all one can do, though if it's a permanent modification, it will bar the optic from ever being turned off via the plasic cover, unless you have a replica with and on/ off switch

Then what ebfud said is your only option. I would suggest a thin plastic piece to use as a hood of sorts. You don't want it too far from the actual sight as you'll start to block the view but something to keep the plastic from touching the sight itself. Then just some really good tape.

My sight has an angle between the base and where the glass actually is.
I will be cutting lexan to match the profile of my sight then glueing it directly to the base of the sight itself. This will leave enough movement room to absorb any potential impacts. |

Only problem with this is that a lot of those sights are curved at the front from side to side so you'll only have the middle part in contact to glue. Plus, it wouldn't allow you to replace easily. I don't think the lexan will break but it can get scratched to the point where you may want to replace it.
