On the surface it seems simple, but there are variables in gearbox and body design that would make it a very daunting task.

Just the alignment between the hopup/barrel assembly and the mechbox is critical to proper function.

Without a machine shop, it's not gonna run long, but that isn't a reason not to try, taking in the lagalities Morb outlined above.
