FYI...

A-BxC
A: Minimum magnification
B: Maximum magnification
C: Apperture

DxC
D: Fixed magnification
C: Apperture

Hence, both scopes have the same power, just one has a larger apperture (viewing window, for lack of a better explanation) than the other.

A 48x magnification scope would be farking huge...

EDIT: Might as well help the OP... Budget for your scope?
