Apparently the preliminary reviews for the G&G L85 is that your almost guaranteed to have to replace at least half the mechbox parts right away and the gun will break down within 1000 rounds almost guaranteed. Just look at all the problems with the G&G UMG's.

I have no idea for sure since I've never owned a G&G gun before but from what I read here and on Arnies I prefer to stay away. Sometimes you get a really good gun but a lot of the time they seem to fail, may be really loose quality control. I have a STAR L85A2 AFV and its a dream. The previous owner said it has seen 15-20k rounds and when I opened the mechbox and cleaned out the old grease (which was still almost white in colour) all the parts looked new, nothing showed any signs of wear at all.

Also with the STAR the blowback mechbox is optional so you can use 9.6V batteries and/or highspeed gears without worry, just don't install the blowback mechbox (like I did.) With the G&G you'll have to disable it or worry about it breaking.

Also note:
STAR L85A2:
Build Material: Steel & Nylon Fiber <-- nice, everything is steel or fiberglass reinforced nylon
Motor: High Torque Flat Motor <-- its a standard AK type for those that don't know
G&G L85A2:
Build Material: Steel / Magnesium / Nylon / Rubber / Zinc / Al6061 <--huh? so its only part steel?
Motor - / <-- so is that a proprietary motor? What other parts in it are proprietary and not standard ver.2/3 parts? STAR internals are almost all standard ver.2/3 parts.
