Galen, if you want and SMG, buy an SMG. If you want a handgun, buy a handgun. You still have to be 18 to buy either.

Better yet, why dont you go to a game and see what folks use? That will help you far more than asking. And if the local place does not allow players under 18, you will know it's simpler to wait.
