Might be your batteries, might be the fuse setting on the spectre, most likely cycle overlap.
If the gears are precocking the piston after the first shot, the amount of amperage needed to get that motor started raises to huge numbers. If the spectre doesn't see cycle completion within a given time of motor power on, it times out in alarm.
You can stop the cycle overlap by using motor braking, but with the current going through it, you're gonna kill that motor pretty quick.
An 18k would solve both problems and last longer.
