The wiring I have also checked and I have seen no damage or wear. The piece of wiring where the fuse used to be has been replaced with a whole new piece with new connectors so there are no wires which are twisted together.

I will look at the contacts right now and give them a good cleaning. Thank you both for your input and I will post again if this does the trick.
