If you did any reading on AV and how it works you'd know that we cannot/won't do anything but AV in person with government issued photo ID. The system only works with transparency, accountability and removing all reasonable workarounds. We've always done it this way, it's created a very safe community and we'll continue.

The system isn't always super convenient, but it's improving all the time. Sometimes however our AV'ers quit and we need to find another, which we are currently doing for Ottawa, but finding the right person and getting them to agree isn't an overnight thing, so it is what it is. Many people from further rural communities often have to travel great distances to be verified as we cannot place a verifier in every town.

Awhile back we rehashed the AV system to streamline it, changing turn around time from weeks to, well, usually the same evening as meeting the rep. It worked well, but we got rid of many AV reps in the process due to inactivity or not being available to meet our needs. We are slowly re-recruiting, but the closest Ottawa rep stepped down recently and that's just the situation.

As I cannot give you a date as to which a new rep will be assigned to Ottawa, I recommend getting your buddies to sign up as well and take a quick road trip together getting all of you done at once, that way you can split the gas.

IF ANYONE IS HEADING UP TO OTTAWA (UNLIKELY?) COULD YOU VERIFY THIS GUY?
