Sticky and messy. The molten plastic has to go somewhere so you may just end up smearing it around and make it harder to remove.
I'm not sure about this, but a pair of needle nose pliers might do the trick. Put them down the cavity and grip the flange very tightly. Give it a twist and see if you can bust pieces out
