I did a lot of research for my 173nd airborne kit, and if you want to be period correct for a 1970 impression you should have subdued pin on your lapel since the army fazed out the sleeve ranks by 1968 onward. Don't forget that the 173nd was one of the rare unit to resist the order to wear subduded divisional insignia (the division patch) on the uniform of all army personnel, so you could use a full color patch instead of the subdued one (I did).
